Every Fourth of July, Americans celebrate in their own way. Some fire up the grill. Others head to the lake before settling in for an evening of fireworks.

Around my house, the television is usually reserved for sports. My patriotic duty this weekend is cheering for the United States on Monday and the Italians of Ferrari on Sunday. If all goes according to plan, they’ll help turn a $20 DraftKings entry into a $10,000 payday.

This year, patriotism is overflowing. The United States men’s soccer team has punched its ticket to the World Cup Round of 16 and will take on Belgium on Monday. Baseball is in full swing. NASCAR is back at Chicagoland Speedway. Before any of that takes center stage, Formula 1 heads to one of the most iconic circuits in motorsports.

Silverstone has hosted the British Grand Prix since the very beginning of the Formula 1 World Championship in 1950. Corners like Maggots, Becketts and Copse reward commitment more than caution, while tire management and strategy often decide who sprays the champagne a few hours later.

The forecast looks surprisingly cooperative by British standards. Of course, this is still the United Kingdom, where sunshine can become a rain shower before the commentators finish reminding us the weather can change at any moment. As things stand, though, we’re expecting a dry race, putting the emphasis squarely on race pace rather than weather roulette.

British Grand Prix F1 DFS Picks

Franco Colapinto (Captain) ($7,200) – Start: 19th

Franco Colapinto is the key that unlocks this entire lineup.

He opened the weekend 11th in FP1, qualified 14th for the Sprint, and drove home 12th before disaster struck in Grand Prix qualifying. A mistake in Q1 left him beached in the gravel and relegated to 19th on the starting grid.

His mistake is our opportunity.

Starting this far back creates tremendous place differential upside, and Colapinto has plenty of cars to chase down. He could beat both Aston Martins on foot if his car refused to start, should have the Cadillacs easily covered, and neither Williams nor Haas has shown enough pace to scare us this weekend. One of the Audis will probably find a creative way to ruin its afternoon, leaving Colapinto with a realistic path to six to eight positions gained. If Pierre Gasly bottles the race somewhere along the way, there’s even teammate bonus potential waiting at the finish.

Kimi Antonelli ($13,000) – Start: 1st

Sometimes DFS isn’t complicated.

Antonelli started second in Saturday’s Sprint, took the lead from Lewis Hamilton before the halfway mark, and never looked back. He has been the quickest driver throughout the weekend and now starts Sunday’s race from pole position.

Yes, he’s the most expensive driver on the slate, but sometimes you simply pay for the best play. Antonelli has the highest fantasy ceiling in the field thanks to his race-winning upside, laps-led potential and a legitimate chance to record the fastest lap of the race. If he controls Sunday’s race the way he controlled the Sprint, he’ll be worth every dollar.

British Grand Prix DFS Strategy: The Ferrari Stack

Charles “Chuck” Leclerc ($10,000) – Start: 2nd

Chuck.

Welcome to the Ferrari stack portion of today’s program.

The model actually projects Lewis Hamilton to finish ahead of Chuck, but this is a tournament lineup, not a cash-game build. While much of the field is likely to pair Antonelli with the Mercedes constructor, we’re taking a different route.

If George Russell doesn’t find another couple of tenths in his dreams overnight, Ferrari has every opportunity to put both cars on the podium. That’s exactly the outcome we’re betting on.

Ferrari Constructor ($12,300)

The constructor selection completes the stack.

If Chuck and Hamilton both finish where we think they can, Ferrari should collect the double points bonus while separating this lineup from what figures to be a Mercedes-heavy build across the field.

There’s a reason this is a $20 tournament paying $10,000 to first.

British Grand Prix DFS Value Plays

Nico Hulkenberg ($4,000) – Start: 13th

No, we’re not predicting another podium.

But Nico Hulkenberg has always seemed to enjoy Silverstone, including last year’s surprise trip to the champagne steps. That’s probably asking a little too much this weekend, but a points finish is certainly within reach.

Starting 13th gives Hulkenberg room to move forward, and we’re also hoping that if one of the Audis decides to self-destruct, it’s Gabriel Bortoleto’s instead.

Sergio Perez ($3,400) – Start: 20th

Perez has been the more consistent Cadillac driver this season, making him an appealing salary saver despite starting 20th.

The place differential upside is obvious, and if Cadillac survives long enough to see the checkered flag, Perez has a great chance to secure the teammate bonus as well.
