The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Nashville Superspeedway for the Cracker Barrel 400, and with it comes one of the better DFS opportunities of the season.

DraftKings is offering a $20 entry contest paying $100,000 to first place. That’s life-changing money. Or, at the very least, enough money to stop checking the price of eggs every time you walk into a grocery store.

Of course, before somebody wins $100,000, we have to survive Nashville.

Passing has proven difficult throughout the Truck and ORAPS races, with track position carrying enormous value once the field gets strung out on longer runs. Qualifying was washed out by rain, forcing NASCAR to set the lineup using its performance metric. That put Denny Hamlin on the pole and handed several of the fastest cars in the field premium starting positions.

As if that wasn’t enough, rain remains on the radar throughout Sunday’s event. Teams may spend the afternoon actively dodging rain clouds, while DFS players spend the afternoon actively dodging heart attacks. Let’s build a lineup capable of turning twenty bucks into six figures.

DFS Strategy

We’ve seen passing be difficult throughout the weekend, but not impossible. That distinction matters.

Denny Hamlin starts from the pole, and we expect him to dominate the early stages of this race. The No. 11 Toyota should enjoy clean air from the drop of the green flag, allowing Hamlin to pile up laps-led bonuses and clean-air fasties while the rest of the field tries to figure out how to get around each other.

Track position has been king all weekend and Hamlin starts with the crown.

The beauty of this build, however, is what sits behind him. We’re able to roster our top three projected finishers in the same lineup: Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Kyle Larson. It feels so good that it should probably require congressional oversight.

Bell starts fourth after posting the fastest practice lap of the weekend. Larson starts fifth and remains one of the most naturally gifted drivers in the sport. Between the three of them, we have access to virtually every major dominator scenario while maintaining elite finishing-position equity.

Then we get to Austin Cindric.

Cindric starts 36th and projects for an average finish around 14th. He doesn’t need to contend for the victory to pay off this salary. He simply needs to avoid turning his race car into modern art.

Noah Gragson starts 26th and projects to finish around 22nd. It’s not the flashiest play on the slate, but it doesn’t need to be. Gragson provides affordable place-differential upside while allowing us to spend aggressively on race-winning talent.

And finally, there’s Riley Herbst.

Herbst projects for a 16.84 average finish and ranked 11th overall in our practice metric. Driving an overpowered Toyota while rolling off 23rd, he checks every DFS box we’re looking for this week.

Reasonable salary. Strong equipment. Positive place differential potential.

And he’s already demonstrated speed.

If things break correctly, Herbst could end up being the steal of the century…or at least the steal of a $20 DFS contest.

The Build

Our lineup construction is straightforward.

We’re betting on Toyota speed, track position, Hamlin controlling the race early and the Bell/Larson combination spending most of the afternoon near the front.

We’re betting on Cindric, Gragson, and Herbst to methodically march forward while everyone else fights tire wear, traffic, strategy calls, and potentially the weather.

If all of that happens, we’ll have a legitimate shot at the $100,000 prize.

Of course, there are still 300 laps between us and six figures.

In NASCAR, that’s more than enough time for everything to go according to plan.

Or absolutely none of it.
