Over/Under and Spread

The under in goals evidently holds the most value here at +143 because two of Barca’s last three Europa games were below 2.5. As for Eintracht, they’ve only hit the over in two of their previous five European outings this term.

When it comes to the spread, the Catalans hold the edge at -1.25 odds.

Barcelona vs Frankfurt Preview for Leg 2 Quarterfinal

Barca disappointingly crashed out of the Champions League group stages and fell into Europa, but they’ve really picked up their act since the turn of the year. Xavi’s arrival has done wonders for the La Liga giants, losing just once in 19 fixtures. The Blaugrana even embarrassed league leaders Real Madrid last month in El Clasico, firing four goals past Los Blancos in a truly remarkable performance.

As for Europa, the side secured a 2-1 win on aggregate in the Round of 16 against Turkish outfit Galatasaray before last week’s stalemate in Frankfurt. It wasn’t a great showing for Barcelona, but they managed to control 66% of the ball and scored an important goal in the second period.

Eintracht meanwhile is in the midst of a forgettable campaign in the Bundesliga, sitting in ninth spot. However, Oliver Glasner’s side has shown well in Europe, going 3-3-0 in the group stages and then beating Real Betis in the last 16.

To be honest, Frankfurt should’ve put more than a goal past Barca in the first leg but they failed to capitalize on clear-cut opportunities. The Germans are also coming off a dismal 2-1 defeat to Freiburg at the weekend. Prior, Frankfurt played to four draws in a row, scoring just twice in the process.

Barca Basically Flawless at Home

A 15-game unbeaten run is undoubtedly impressive for Barca who is the top dog in Europa League odds, but Xavi’s men are especially thriving at Camp Nou. Since the first leg of the Round of 32 against Napoli in February, the Catalans have conceded only one goal on home soil in five games while netting 10 times, including a pair of 4-0 wins over Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao. The arrivals of Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Adama Traore are rejuvenating this team, with Auba already firing home 10 goals in 14 appearances, with two of them coming in Europa.

Frankfurt Enjoying Success Against Spanish Sides

This might be a poor campaign for Frankfurt, but they’re enjoying a nine-match unbeaten streak against La Liga teams. Of course, Glasner’s group already eliminated Betis in the last round and has managed to win three of their last four away from home vs Spanish opponents. That’s definitely a positive sign for what will be a very tough fixture.

Barcelona vs Frankfurt Team Lineups and Injuries

Barcelona Projected Lineup: Ter Stegen; Araujo, Lenglet, Garcia, Alba; Pedri, Busquets, Frenkie. De Jong; Dembele, Aubameyang, Torres

Barcelona Injuries/Absences: Gerard Pique, Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati, Sergio Roberto, Sergino Dest, Dani Alves

Frankfurt Projected Lineup: Trapp; Hasebe, Hinteregger, Ndicka; Knauff, Rode, Jakic, Kostic; Lindstrom, Kamada; Borre

Frankfurt Injuries/Absences: Tuta, Christopher Lenz, Diant Ramaj, Djibril Sow

Barcelona vs Frankfurt Pick

I truly think Barca’s brilliance on home turf is far too impressive to look past. On top of that, they’re fresh off an inspiring 3-2 victory over Levante and should be able to get it done again here. Expect them to clean it up at the back and come out firing. Xavi has countless attacking options at his disposal as well and it should pay off.

Pick: Barcelona to Win Nil (+155)
