Sunday’s fixture between Bayern and Union Berlin has serious title implications as the two sides are currently level on 43 points at the top of the Bundesliga table. The kick-off at the Allianz Arena is scheduled for 11:30 AM ET. Find the Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin odds below.

The reigning champions only sit in first due to a better goal difference than both Dortmund and Union. They didn’t do themselves any favor on matchday 21 either, losing 3-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach. Berlin meanwhile played to a scoreless draw with Schalke last weekend but captured an inspiring 3-1 victory over Ajax on Thursday in the Europa League.

Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin Preview

Bayern typically runs away with the Bundesliga title, but that is far from the case in 2022-23. Julian Nagelsmann’s side has a ton of pressure on them, with just five points separating the Bavarians and sixth-place Frankfurt. That’s how wide open the Champions League spots are at the moment.

The reigning champions had notched four victories in a row across all competitions before slipping up at Gladbach last weekend. Dayot Upamecano was handed a straight red in the eighth minute and from that point on, it was an uphill battle for Munich. Keeper Yann Sommer was beaten three times by his former club, while Eric Choupo-Moting and substitute Mathys Tel both got on the scoresheet. Needless to say, Bayern needs to bounce back on home soil versus a team that is nipping at their heels.

Union is one of the best-kept secrets in Europe this term. After a fifth place last season, Urs Fischer’s men are seriously giving Bayern and Dortmund a run for their money at the top of the table. While they’re not exactly a club that will score a lot of goals (35 in just 21 games) Berlin is just fundamentally sound. There are numerous players who can produce in the final third and their backline has allowed a mere 24 goals.

Plus, Die Eisernen couldn’t be coming into Sunday’s gigantic encounter in better shape, riding a 10-game unbeaten run since play resumed following the World Cup. That includes their heroic second-leg upset over Dutch giants Ajax on Thursday in Europa, booking their spot in the Round of 16. The confidence is sky-high for Union latelt. They will fully believe the three points can be secured here in Munich.

Bayern vs Union Berlin Projected Lineups & Injuries

Bayern Projected Lineup: Sommer; Cancelo, De Ligt, Pavard, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Coman, Musiala, Sane; Choupo-Moting

Injuries & Absences: Upamecano

Union Berlin Projected Lineup: Ronnow; Jaeckel, Leite, Knoche; Juranovic, Haberer, Laidouni, Khedira, Trimmel; Siebatcheu, Becker

Injuries & Absences: Schafer

For the first time since before the World Cup break, Sadio Mane is finally available to feature. While he’s not likely to start, the Senegalese international could come on as a substitute for Bayern, looking to add to his six Bundesliga goals. Upamecano is serving a one-match ban after the red card.

For the visitors, Hungarian Andras Schafer is the only absence.

Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin Prediction

Bayern has yet to taste defeat at the Allianz Arena this season. While I don’t think that’ll happen, Union is far too strong since the turn of the year to underestimate. A draw looks good to me, with both teams finding the back of the net in a highly entertaining clash.

Pick: Draw (+450), both teams to score (-110)
