RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid Prediction

RB Leipzig still has a shot at top spot in Group F after Real Madrid’s draw with Shakhtar Donetsk last time out. The hosts could also drop out of the top two if they fail to win, however, with Shakhtar facing Celtic. Significantly, Los Blancos are without Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde for this fixture, which contributes to their longer odds.

Leipzig made a dramatic late comeback against Augsburg at the weekend but still had to share the spoils. Outside the Champions League spots in the Bundesliga, they are having a difficult start to the season, while Real are unbeaten so far in 2022-23. The visitors are less dangerous without Ballon d’Or winner Benzema, but their midfield remains formidable even with Modric and Valverde sidelined.

While the home team can be tough to break down and only lost 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu, they have now conceded five in three matches. It will be a competitive match, but there’s value in backing Real to take all three points and guarantee they win the group.

Pick: Real Madrid Moneyline (+145)

Inter vs Viktoria Plzen Prediction

Drawn into the group of death, Viktoria Plzen have lost all of their matches so far, shipping 16 goals in the process. They were more competitive in the group stage of 2018-19, including a win over Roma, but this competition has generally been very challenging for the Czech side. Inter are the hosts on this occasion with seven points from their last three Champions League matches.

The Nerazzurri won 2-0 away to Viktoria Plzen on Matchday 2, with over 70% of possession and goals in each half. Michal Bílek’s side had 11 fewer shots and played most of the second half with 10 men. Since that match, they have lost 5-0 and 4-2 to Bayern Munich.

Inter played out a seven-goal thriller with Fiorentina, ending in a 4-3 win, at the weekend. In their last home match, they won both halves against Salernitana. With the hosts at such a short price to take all three points, winning both halves is a good value bet here. This is going to be one-way traffic, and Plzen’s defense clearly cannot cope with the quality of opposition in the Champions League.

Pick: Inter to win both halves (+102)

Napoli vs Rangers Prediction

Rangers have lost all four of their Champions League matches, conceding 16 and scoring just once. They were hammered 3-0 by Napoli at Ibrox on Matchday 2, and have their work cut out to avoid a thrashing when they head to Naples this week.

Napoli have scored 17 in four Champions League fixtures, and are riding an 11-match winning streak in all competitions. They are Europe’s form team — the last time they failed to win was in August.

Prior to their 1-0 over Roma last time out, they had scored three or more goals in five consecutive fixtures. They have scored over 2.5 in all of their Champions League fixtures, and their 14.4 expected goals in the competition is the most by a large margin.

Much like Plzen, Rangers were given a tricky draw and have been completely overwhelmed. That trend will surely continue against a Napoli team absolutely brimming with confidence.

Pick: Napoli to win and score over 2.5 goals (-110)
