Ronaldo Already Has Four Children

Ronaldo, 36, already has four kids.

Cristiano Jr is 11-years-old, then twins Eva and Mateo are four-years-old. The mother of Cristiano Jr or “Christianinho” is not known to the public. Eva and Mateo were born by an anonymous surrogate.

His fourth child, Alana Martina, three years old, is from current girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez. Ronaldo met the 27-year-old Spanish model while shopping at a Gucci store in Madrid in 2016. Alana Martina is the first child of Rodríguez.

In October, the couple announced Georgina is three months pregnant and that they are expecting twins.

It’s not uncommon to pass down a family member’s name to one’s children. Given the unknown nature of the past mothers of his first three children, we can rule out that possibility. Of course, for obvious reasons, “Georgina” at +1400 odds could certainly be in the running should the couple give birth to a baby girl.

But what about Ronaldo’s other family? His mother, still in his life, is named Maria Dolores dos Santo Aveiro.

His father, who passed away in 2005 from liver disease when Ronaldo was just 20-years-old, was named Jose Dinis Aveiro.

So we can easily see why “Maria” and “Jose” are leading favorites in this baby name prop.

But while passing along his mother’s name could make sense, it seems a little less likely when it comes to his father’s name. Jose battled with drinking problems which ultimately led to his early death. Ronaldo has admitted to never really getting to know his father well. And his mother has said Jose was hard to be around when drinking. For this reason, it’s possible to think Ronaldo may not pass down his father’s name to one of his future children.

His grandparents are Humberto and Filomena Aveiro on his father’s side and Jose Nunes de Viveiros and Matilde dos Santos on his mother’s side.

None of these names are on the list, but if you’re curious, Ronaldo’s siblings are brother Hugo, and sisters Liliana Katia and Elma.

Georgina Rodríguez’s Family

Let’s keep along the same line of thinking for Rodríguez. Her parents are Ana María Hernández (Spanish) and Jorge Rodríguez (Argentine). While not much is known about her mother, her father was a former coach and soccer player. However, he served a ten-year prison sentence for drug trafficking and has since passed away.

Georgina has one older sister, Ivana.

There’s not much to go on there, but I think we can keep her mother’s names in the potential running.

Other Longshot Bets

The name “Seven” is on the list likely because of Ronaldo’s number 7 on his jersey. The superstar has also stated he wants to have seven children in total. Well, by my count these twins could add up to six. So, if the name “Seven” was to be given, it would stand to reason that may come sometime in the future.

Then we have a few real longshots on the list that soccer fans may recognize. Names like “Lionel”, “Alex”, “Ruben”, “Wayne”, “Rui”, “Gareth” and “Ole” can all be tied to some big names in the sport.

Ronaldo will forever be tied to Lionel Messi in the debate for the greatest player of all time. No chance he passes on his rival’s name to his offspring. “Alex”, as in Sir Alex Ferguson played a huge part in Ronaldo’s first stint at Man U as the team’s manager. Ronaldo also played with Wayne Rooney during that time. Cristiano Jr currently plays with Rooney’s son Kai at the Man U academy.

Rui Patricio is the Portuguese national goalkeeper and naturally has been international teammates with Ronaldo. “Ruben”, likely as in Rúben Neves, is also an international teammate.

Then we have a couple of English names on the list. With Ronaldo currently playing for Man U in England, perhaps bookmakers are thinking the couple may name their child after Gareth Southgate (English national team manager) or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (current Man U manager).

In my opinion, Ronaldo is too big of a superstar in his own right to go naming his children after someone else. Not to mention, many of these names are not even remotely Portuguese or Spanish.

Ronaldo Baby Name Best Bets

When it comes to best bets here, so far Ronaldo’s children all have names either based on his name, or that are generally more younger sounding or Portuguese/Spanish names. What I mean by this is Eva, Mateo and Alana, are not “Jorge” or “Albert” (a little older and/or more English).

If you’re looking for a favorite for a girl’s name, you could do worse than 5-1 odds on “Maria”. Between that being his mother’s name and it being the middle name of Georgina’s mother, that makes sense should the couple decide to pass down a female name. For longer odds, “Ana”, Georgina’s mother’s first name, would offer better odds.

It’s worth noting that Maria is listed as the most popular Portuguese baby name for girls on Portugalist. Ana and Sofia also make the list. For boys, the website lists Joao as the third-most-popular.

Georgina is Spanish, so let’s compare popular Spanish baby names as well. The website CharliesNames lists “Sofia” or some form of the name among the most popular (8th) Spanish baby girl names of 2021. That makes “Sofia” a popular name in both countries and could offer value. None of the boy names available for betting appear on the list. Take it one step further given her Argentine heritage on her dad’s side, and RandomNames also lists Sofia as the 15th most popular Argentina baby name overall in 2021. That’s a lot of checkboxes across all nationalities for “Sofia”. Maria comes in as third for Argentina names.

For a boy, this may be where some of the value comes from, at least from the betting options available. Take out Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s fathers’ names. If they have a boy (or boys) it will be Ronaldo’s third (and/or fourth) boy. His current son, Mateo could’ve technically been “Cristiano III” if you count Cristiano himself as the first. So perhaps we’ll skip that one. We’ll go value hunting and pick either “Joao” at +1400 or “Luis” at +2000 odds.
