We preview France vs Morocco, look at the World Cup odds, and offer some analysis, team news, and picks below.

France start as odds-on favorites at -185 on the moneyline with an implied win probability of 65%, while Morocco, listed at +600, have an implied probability of 14%. The odds of France getting to the final, including via either extra-time and/or penalties, is -425, and Morocco +320.

Over/Under and Spread

DraftKings are offering under 1.5 goals in plus money at +205, while the over is odds-on at -265. Given that Morocco have conceded just a single goal in the tournament so far, the under looks an interesting bet. Also, Morocco at +155 on the +0.5 spread is worth a second look.

France vs Morocco Preview

With Brazil no longer in the tournament after they lost to Croatia, France are now the clear favorites to retain their title. Aside from their surprise defeat by Tunisia in their third group game – when manager Didier Deschamps decided to rest most of his big names – the French have looked like and played like world champions.

Against England in the quarterfinal, France found a way to win despite not being at their best and despite coming under lots of pressure in the second half. Goals from Aurélien Tchouaméni and Olivier Giroud were enough to get the job done on a tension-filled night in Al Khor.

The Pace of Mbappe and Guile of Griezemann

With Kylian Mbappe – arguably the world’s best player right now – and Ousmane Dembélé on either flank, and with Antione Griezemann playing as a floating ’10’, the French supply line to Giroud is the envy of every team in the tournament. Morocco’s defense, which so far has been its strength, will be tested to the limit.

Record-Breaking Moroccans

This has been already been a record-breaking tournament for Morocco. In addition to being the first African nation to ever qualify for the World Cup semifinals, the Atlas Lions are also the first Arab and predominantly Muslim country to reach this stage of the tournament. They also happen to be the best-supported team in Qatar, with every game being like a home game in Casablanca.

So it will be into a noisy, pro-Moroccan cauldron that the French step into on Wednesday, and they will come up against a team that now believes anything is possible. Also, in midfielder Sofyan Amrabat they have one of the players of the tournament.

Atlas Lions Unbeaten in Eight

Morocco are also on a fine run of form right now and under new coach, Walid Regragui are unbeaten in eight matches. Along the way, they have kept no less than seven clean sheets and have recorded wins over Belgium, Spain, and Portugal.

France vs Morocco Team Lineups and Injuries

France Projected Lineup: Lloris, Kounde, Varane, Upamecano, Hernandez (T), Tchouameni, Rabiot, Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe, Giroud.

Injuries & absences: Hernandez (L).

Morocco Projected Lineup: Bono, Hakimi, El Yamiq, Aguerd, Mazraoui, Ounahi, Amrabat, Amallah, Ziyech, En-Nesyri, Boufal.

Injuries & absences: Cheddira, Saiss.

France vs Morocco Prediction

At the start of the tournament, the bookies wouldn’t have given Morocco a chance against the world champions but this has been a World Cup of surprises. The Moroccans, along the way, have shaken the soccer world and so shouldn’t be ruled out of springing another surprise, especially if their ultra-mean defense can take this to extra time.

While the obvious bet here is the France win, I believe the Morrocans have it in them to take their crazy journey one step further.

Picks: Morocco to advance (+320) / Draw after 90 minutes (+300) / Under 1.5 goals (+205)
