The showpiece Community Shield curtain-raiser for top-level English football takes place in Arsenal vs Man City at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The match is played annually between the previous season’s Premier League champions – Man City – and the FA Cup winners.
However, Pep Guardiola’s Man City side won both the title and the FA Cup, with its triumph in the Champions League final against Inter Milan completing a historic Treble.
Therefore, Arsenal will provide the opposition this weekend because it placed second in the Premier League.
Although the game is a friendly, it has increasingly been regarded with importance by coaches in recent seasons . It offers a morale-boosting chance to kick off the season by lifting silverware ahead of the Premier League title race.
Kick-off is at 11am ET. The Premier League season begins six days later on August 11.
