It comes down to Wednesday night for the chance to lift the US Open Cup trophy as Orlando City and the Sacramento Republic lock horns in the grand finale. The kick-off for the final is set for 8:00 PM ET at Exploria Stadium.
The hosts smashed the NY Red Bulls 5-1 in the semifinals to book their ticket to this fixture, while Sacramento, who compete in the USL, upset Sporting KC in penalties.

Orlando City | -215 |
Sacramento Republic | +550 |

Orlando is a heavy -215 favorite here and has never won a piece of hardware in their club history, never mind the US Open Cup. Sacramento is looking to become the first non-MLS club to win the competition since 1999.
Over/Under & Spread
The over 2.5 goals sits at -135 odds, while the under is +105. These two sides have met just once, playing to a scoreless draw in 2014 when Orlando was in what was then called the USL Pro.
Orlando City vs Sacramento Republic Prediction
Orlando is in the midst of a respectable MLS campaign, sitting in fifth spot in the East, and should make the playoffs at this rate. They come into this encounter in the best form possible too, winning four in a row including a 3-2 victory over Seattle last Wednesday. In fact, during this run, the Lions have conceded just twice and bagged eight goals.

When it comes to the US Open Cup, it’s been a whirlwind of a ride for the hosts. It took them penalties against Nashville and Inter Miami in the earlier stages of the tournament before ripping apart the Red Bulls in the semis. Four different players found the back of the net, led by Cesar Araujo’s brace.

Sacramento is the first USL team in the US Open Cup Final since 2008, but they’re in very poor form at the moment, tasting defeat in three of their last five outings. Republic FC lost 3-1 at the weekend to Louisville and are currently in fourth in their conference.
But, there is no way you can’t be impressed with the teams they’ve beaten along the way in this competition. Mark Briggs’ side has eliminated the Galaxy, Earthquakes, and Sporting KC in the past three rounds. The victory over Kansas City needed penalties after a scoreless 120 minutes, but Sacramento managed to edge them out 5-4 from the spot.
From 103 down to 2.

While goals aren’t exactly coming at a premium for this club in the US Open Cup, the USL outfit has conceded just twice and kept four clean sheets in six games. If the backline can hold their own again on Wednesday, they have a chance to make history.

Orlando City vs Sacramento Republic Pick
Sacramento might’ve turned up against quality clubs earlier in the competition, but between Orlando’s recent dominance and the visitors’ shaky form, I like the Lions to win here. With the moneyline offering little value, take both teams to score and the hosts to come out victorious.
Pick: Orlando City to win & both teams to score (+190)
