Wolves vs Chelsea

Wolves have one win in five matches after falling to a Midlands derby defeat at the weekend. Raul Jimenez is out long-term and Joao Moutinho is suspended for the visit of Chelsea after a red card on Saturday. Although down in 13th, Wolves are just six points off the top four. They face a Chelsea side who missed an opportunity to go top at the weekend and looked short on creativity with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic all injured.

Defeat to Everton was Chelsea’s first loss since September. Frank Lampard will be hopeful his team can prove that was no more than a blip – they are heavily favored to get the better of Wolves on Tuesday.

Chelsea have been the best defensive team in the Premier League since October 3rd, the first time Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy played together. Mendy made a mistake at the weekend, but he has been a calming force since making his Chelsea debut. Wolves’ attack is not as potent without Jimenez. The Blues to win to nil looks good value.

Pick: Chelsea to win to nil (+165)

Leicester vs Everton

Inconsistency has riddled both of these teams. Leicester are still in the top four, but back-to-back defeats to Fulham and Liverpool were a setback for the Foxes. They have since rediscovered their form with consecutive victories, and they could move top with a win at home to Everton. After getting off to a flyer, the Toffees have been very up and down. Carlo Ancelotti will hope the win over Chelsea at the weekend can be a springboard for a strong run over the festive period.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a revelation under Ancelotti. He terrorized Chelsea at the weekend – how the Leicester center-backs deal with him will be crucial. Ancelotti could follow a similar tactical approach to the Chelsea match against a Leicester side who are devastating in transition. The visitors may sit deep and look to absorb pressure before launching long balls to Calvert-Lewin, particularly if James Rodriguez remains sidelined.

It’s hard to trust either of these teams as a betting option. They both have similar ambitions for the campaign, but Leicester are probably the better team at this point. A home win is the best bet.

Pick: Leicester Moneyline (+120)

Liverpool vs Tottenham

After Chelsea lost to Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham missed an opportunity on Sunday. Both teams fell to disappointing draws – Liverpool slipped up away to Fulham, while Spurs were outplayed by Crystal Palace. They still sit first and second in the Premier League coming into this matchup, however, with Spurs’ superior goal difference keeping them top of the pile. Defeat for either side in midweek could see them overtaken by Chelsea, Leicester and Southampton.

Although each only suffering one defeat in the league so far this season, both teams have stuttered of late. Spurs have drawn two of three. For Liverpool, it’s three draws from five. Fatigue has been evident across the Premier League over the last few gameweeks, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a sluggish affair between these two at Anfield.

Jose Mourinho, as he did against Chelsea, will be happy to take a draw. Liverpool’s defense has proven to be okay in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. While Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son will be a threat on the break as always, Mourinho will set his side up to avoid defeat. This could be another turgid big match, following the pattern of Chelsea versus Spurs and the Manchester derby.

Pick: Under 2.5 goals (+132)
