  • With the summer transfer window quickly approaching, people are already speculating where Cristiano Ronaldo might end up by the start of next year
  • Currently, rumors are pointing towards a dream return to Real Madrid after three years of failure in European competition at Juventus
  • Nonetheless, Ronaldo is favored to stay at Juventus with heavy odds of -2000

At 36 years of age, Cristiano Ronaldo is still continuously proving he is one of the best footballers in the world at Juventus. He will be remembered mostly for his time at Manchester United and Real Madrid, but in his three-year spell in Italy, he has scored a staggering 95 goals in all competitions. Ronaldo has added two Serie A titles to his trophy collection, but for the first time since 2010/11, it looks as though Juventus will not be champions.

Furthermore, in Europe Juventus has been shocking. As a top European side, they have been anything but in the past three years falling out of the competition to Ajax, Lyon and Porto in the early knockout rounds. Additionally, Juventus might already be realizing Andrea Pirlo is in over his head as manager. As a result, there are many early speculations about Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from the club.

Ronaldo is still obviously good enough to play at most clubs across Europe. However, one must analyze where he fits in with these teams and if they have a serious chance of competing in Europe over the next two to three years. Ronaldo still has a few years left at the peak of his powers, and you better believe he will make the most of them, wherever he ends up.

Juventus and Real Madrid are the Only Serious Suitors

First things first, it is abundantly clear that Juventus and Real Madrid are the only clubs that have a chance at Cristiano Ronaldo. The lower clubs in the odds table have no serious chance of winning the Champions League and including Barcelona is quite preposterous. Manchester United is a step above the aforementioned teams, but they have had their struggles and have no real club direction for Ronaldo to step into. Meanwhile, at Manchester City, PSG and Bayern, Ronaldo might not be the best player at his position to put it kindly.

With that being said, Real Madrid makes perfect sense for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Galacticos have simply not been the same since Ronaldo left and it could make for a beautiful reunion. With Messi possibly leaving La Liga in the summer, this could be Ronaldo’s final curtain call in Spain with some of his favorite teammates. Juventus are probably willing to sell Ronaldo for a discount, and with Real Madrid pausing their pursuit of Mbappe due to their ensuing financial crisis, this might be a move the board would approve of.

The Case for Ronaldo Staying in Turin

While Real Madrid is enticing, Juventus is a project Ronaldo might not want to give up on just yet. Pirlo is just settling in as manager and Juventus have a lot of deadweight they could unload in the offseason. If they can raise enough money, Paul Pogba could very well be on his way back to Italy.

Pogba was a brilliant player during his time at the club and pairing him with a forward like Ronaldo could be absolutely deadly. The bottom line is that Ronaldo is simply not the player he once was. To win domestically and in Europe, Juventus will have to surround him with enough talent for him to want to stay. Pogba is a step in the right direction, but not the universal solution.

Best Bet for Ronaldo’s Next Club

Overall, the best bet for this scenario is Ronaldo to leave Juventus for Real Madrid with odds of +500. This would be truly groundbreaking if it happened, but at his current value, it is hard to turn down if you are Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid. The Juventus faithful seem to be pointing fingers in the way of CR7 for not pushing this squad further, and it is hard to tell if he is still happy. Staying at Juventus is tempting, but a reunion at the Bernabeu is a dream both of these parties desperately need.

Pick: Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid (+500)
