Italy’s Serie A Matchday 34 kicks off Saturday morning with Verona hosting Spezia, before a top versus bottom clash between Crotone and Inter Milan.

AC Milan will look to regain a place in the top four when they host Benevento later in the day. On Sunday, five more matches kick-off, including an intriguing Sassuolo vs Atalanta match, with the round concluding with Torino versus on Monday. Roma was in action on Thursday in the Europa League with Manchester United and will look to keep their hopes of a top-six finish in Serie A alive when they travel to Sampdoria on Sunday.

The relegation race also looks to be coming down to the wire with three teams tied on 31 points in the final relegation spot, and several others not far away from being sucked in.

Crotone vs Inter Milan Prediction

It’s only, a paltry 61 points that separate these two in the table when 20th place Crotone hosts first-place Inter Milan on Saturday at 12:00 pm EST on Serie A Matchday 34.

Inter are coming off a 1-0 win over Verona which has now stretched their undefeated streak in the league to 17, 13 of which have been wins. Interestingly, Inter’s matches have also been very low-scoring of late, as six of eight have gone UNDER the total. They’ve actually only scored multiple goals in two of those eight.

That could change against a Crotone side who snapped a six-match losing streak with a 4-3 win over fellow relegation candidates Parma last week. Crotone though is well out of the race for salvation and has lost 13 of their past 15. They’ve also allowed multiple goals in 14 of those 15.

Back in January, Inter ran riot over Crotone to the tune of 6-2 which included a Lautaro Martinez hat-trick.

With the title in their sights, Inter should be a straightforward win on Saturday. Inter to score OVER 2.5 (-129) could be in the cards, and any sort of second-half bet on Inter could be a strong play as well. Inter has the best second-half record overall at 22-10-1 (WDL), while also owning the top goal-differential in the second half at plus-33. In the case that Inter’s recently lower-scoring ways continue, Inter on the spread to win by at least two is my best bet.

Pick: Inter Milan -1.5 (-152)

Sassuolo vs Atalanta Prediction

Two teams in scorching form meet at 9:00 am on Sunday, May 2 in Serie A Matchday 34.

Sassuolo may be realistically out of the conversation for European places but that hasn’t stopped them from ending the season strong. With four wins on the bounce, only their weekend opponents with 13 points in their past five outings have more points than the Neroverdi with 12. Lazio too has a similar 4-0-1 (WDL) record to Sassuolo in their past five.

Sassuolo topped Sampdoria 1-0 last week, and their defense, not usually a strong suit, has tightened up in allowing just four goals in five outings.

They’ll be up against it though when La Dea comes to town. Atalanta has scored 13 times in their past five and now sits in second place with 68 points—two above each of Napoli. Juventus and Milan. They’ve also only conceded once in their past three. That run included a 1-0 win over Juventus and a 1-1 draw with Roma. However, anyone who watched their match with Roma knows that should’ve been a landslide victory for La Dea if not for some early missed chances and a second-half red card which allowed Roma to equalize.

Atalanta are coming off a 5-0 mauling of Bologna last weekend and will be looking to extend their seven-match undefeated streak. In fact, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has only fallen in defeat once in their past 13.

Matches between these two have been exhilarating, to say the least, but have also been dominated by Atalanta. Earlier this season they won 5-1 at home. Last year Atalanta won each meeting 4-1. The season before they also won each by 6-2 and 3-1 scorelines. Across all comps, they have won eight-straight over Sassuolo, to go along with a 10-4-0 (WDL) record in the past 14. Sassuolo’s last win between the sides came in 2014.

It’s hard to go against Atalanta right now but they are heavily favored. An Atalanta win where both teams score at +148 offers good value, or more simply, both scoring and at least three goals in the match can be had at -138.

Pick: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals (-138 at Bet365)

Torino vs Parma Prediction

Serie A Matchday 34 comes to a close on Monday afternoon at 2:45 pm EST when Torino hosts Parma. There’s plenty on the line between 16th-place Torino and 19th-placed Parma.

Torino currently leads a three-way tie between themselves, Cagliari and Benevento, all on 31 points and battling to avoid relegation—a spot currently held by Benevento. A further 11 points below Benevento, sits Parma, whom with just five games and 15 points left for the taking this season, look all but assured of heading down to Serie B. Last week they blew a glorious chance to cut the deficit, at home to bottom-of-the-table Crotone. However, in a wild 4-3 result it was the Pythagoreans who claimed all three points.

It was just one of many (19 to be exact) losses on the year for Parma, and also their fourth on the bounce. Across all competitions, they have just a single win in 25 matches. And while Roberto D’Aversa’s side has been fighting hard of late, scoring in 12-straight, they’ve conceded in 11 of those 12 as well. Even worse, they’ve conceded multiple goals in those 11, and in their current four-match slide they’ve allowed three, four, three and four goals respectively.

Torino was riding a four-match undefeated run prior to Monday’s 2-0 defeat against Napoli. At home, their offense has been clicking. Their past three at the Stadio Olimpico have read: 3-1 win (Roma), 2-2 draw (Juventus) and 3-2 win (Sassuolo).

This match looks to be a clear bet on the OVER. But it also depends on how motivated Parma is for this one. While they are technically still alive and have shown life, conceding four in a loss to Crotone was surely a blow to their confidence.

With Benevento away to Milan and Cagliari away to Napoli, there is no better time for the Toros to grab three points and potentially put some space between themselves and both of those sides as the relegation battle heats up. If you think Parma comes to play, then both teams to score (-150) or both scoring and OVER 2.5 at +100 odds are both solid plays.

However, if you feel the air could be out of the Parma balloon, a Torino win where they score at least two goals may offer a better bet.

Pick: Torino to Win & Score Over 1.5 Goals (-120 at Bet365)
