One La Liga match to keep an eye on for Sunday is Sevilla versus Real Betis at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. This local rivalry, dubbed as El Gran Derbi is one of the best Spanish football matchups. Not only is this clash important to the city of Seville, it also has major implications for the La Liga table.
In fact, Sevilla and Real Betis hold second and third place in La Liga at this moment, on 51 and 46 points. Despite Real Madrid having the far and away best odds to win La Liga, these Champions League spots are imperative. Presently, Barcelona are only four points back of Real Betis with a game in hand. A slip up, from Real Betis especially, could allow Barcelona or Atletico Madrid to eventually creep up the table.

Overall, this game is expected to be a nail-biter and the plus moneyline odds across the board back that up. In terms of goals, the under on 2.5 total goals is the heavily favored option given that Sevilla arguably have the best defense in La Liga.

Julen Lopetegui to be Without Some Key Players
Furthermore, one crucial aspect of this match is the absentee list for Sevilla. They are set to be without some notable talents including the likes of Lucas Ocampos, Jules Kounde, Anthony Martial, and Erik Lamela.
When Sevilla and Real Betis last played, just a month ago in the Copa del Rey, Los Verdiblancos won 2-1. In turn, it is fair to think that Real Betis will once again get their chances in front of goal. Actually, it is quite obvious they are the better goal-scoring side with the likes of Juanmi, Nabil Fekir and Sergio Canales leading their attack.
Sevilla vs Real Betis La Liga Statistics
1.48 | Goals per game | 1.88 |
1.14 | Expected goals per game | 1.54 |
0.68 | Goals allowed per game | 1.20 |
0.91 | Expected goals allowed per game | 1.23 |
61.3% | Possession % | 53.3% |
85.6% | Passing Accuracy % | 82.5% |
11.8 | Shots per game | 14.3 |
With that being said, the absence of Jules Kounde in specific, is honestly quite glaring. The 23 year-old French defender is arguably one of their best players, starting in 19 games this season.
Moreover, the bigger concern is if Real Betis do manage to antagonize that Sevilla back line. Rafa Mir will be their only consistent goal-scorer on the pitch, and again, the loss of Ocampos will be detrimental to the Sevillistas Rojiblancos.

They managed to slide past Dinamo Zagreb on aggregate in the Europa League, but a loss in the midweek might have shaken their confidence. Additionally, Sevilla have drawn four out of their last eight, only managing to win twice.
Real Betis are Hitting Peak Form
Conversely, it looks like Real Betis are hitting their stride at the perfect time. They have only lost one game in their last twelve matches in what was a surprise 2-0 defeat at home to Villarreal.

However, their overall form has been shimmering and they are pouring on the goals. As a matter of fact, while they have only scored 1.88 goals per game on the season, they have scored 2.42 per game in that same stretch of twelve.
Obviously, Real Betis play a much more open brand of football so it will be interesting to see how well they pull Sevilla out of position. They should go into this game with leaps and bounds of confidence after their 2-1 Copa del Rey victory.

Also, they can look back at their reverse La Liga fixture with a grain of salt. It took a 45th minute red card and a Hector Bellerin own goal for Sevilla to win 2-0. Despite not beating Sevilla in La Liga play since 2018, I think Real Betis are due for a massive three points.
Sevilla vs Real Betis Best Bet
Overall, the best bet for this match is the draw no bet in favor of Real Betis with odds of +145. Not only does this bet have great value, it is the smart play given Sevilla absentee list and recent form.
Pick: Real Betis draw no bet (+145)
