Brazil vs Peru Prediction

Brazil will be looking to continue their unbeaten qualifying campaign as they host Chile in Rio de Janeiro. Tite’s squad is 12-3-0 through 15 outings, bagging 32 goals and conceding just five times. In their last game against Paraguay in February, Selecao cruised to a 4-0 victory, with Philippe Coutinho, Rodrygo, Raphinha, and Antony all getting on the scoresheet. They’ve yet to drop any points on home soil and have the best World Cup odds on the globe at +550.

For Chile, this is essentially a must-win fixture. Martin Lasarte’s side is currently in sixth spot and three points behind Uruguay, who currently hold the final berth for Qatar. Their most recent game in February was a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Bolivia as Alexis Sanchez netted a brace, taking his tally to six goals in qualifying. He’ll be a key factor once again on Thursday.

The last meeting between these two sides saw Brazil run out as 1-0 winners on the road, but the Chileans actually dominated 61% of the ball. Honestly, the visitors have a lot more at stake here but the Brazilians have won three straight against them, keeping a clean sheet in all of these games. I think it could happen again.

Pick: Brazil to Win Nil +118

Paraguay vs Ecuador Prediction

Ninth place Paraguay has a chance to play spoiler on Thursday against Ecuador, who are in third spot at the moment. The Paraguayans are winless in their last five games, picking up a lone point during that span. It’s frankly been a forgettable World Cup Qualifying campaign, scoring a mere nine goals so far and allowing 23 in 16 matches. Brazil embarrassed Paraguay in February, putting four past them.

The Ecuadorians have a legitimate chance to qualify for their first World Cup since 2014 and just the fourth in the history of the country. They’ve played very well thus far, salvaging a draw with Brazil and beating the likes of Peru and Chile along the way. They’re also riding a five-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, although the last two ended in a stalemate. However, a lone point could be enough to see them through to Qatar.

Ecuador beat Paraguay in the reverse fixture in September by two goals. With so much more on the line for them, I think they will come through here. The moneyline offers tremendous value.

Pick: Ecuador +155

Uruguay vs Peru Prediction

Uruguay and Peru lock horns on Thursday in an absolutely massive game for both teams. The hosts are in fourth and just one point above Peru.

That being said, a victory for the visitors would see them leapfrog their Matchday 17 opponents with just one match left after this. The Uruguayans were in poor form, suffering four defeats in a row from early October to early November, but they turned things around in the January international break. New boss Diego Alonso guided them to two straight wins over Paraguay and Venezuela. Luis Suarez scored in both games and now has seven goals in qualifying.

Peru is trending upwards, currently enjoying a six-match unbeaten run across all competitions and winning two of their last three. The Peruvians salvaged a draw on Matchday 16 against Ecuador after Edison Flores netted a second-half equalizer for his side. Ricardo Gareca’s men take on Paraguay to finish up their World Cup qualifying campaign and if they can grab six points between both games, it’s going to do wonders for their Qatar aspirations.

The last two meetings between Uruguay and Peru ended in a 1-1 scoreline. The hosts are a heavy favorite, but you can’t take the Peruvians for granted. I like the value of a draw again.

Pick: Draw +250
