  • Tottenham welcome West Ham to North London on Sunday, Match 20 for a huge clash
  • The Hammers have won two in a row against Spurs in Premier League action
  • Read on for odds, preview, and predictions

With the FA Cup quarterfinals taking center stage this weekend, there is just a handful of Premier League fixtures on the schedule. The most intriguing of the lot however will see Tottenham host West Ham on Sunday, with both clubs fighting tooth and nail to sneak into the top-four. The kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 PM EST in North London.

Spurs are coming off an important 2-0 victory over Brighton mid-week, with Harry Kane and Rodrigo Bentacur getting on the scoresheet. The Hammers meanwhile, secured their spot in the Europa League quarterfinals on Thursday with an emphatic extra-time victory over Sevilla in the second leg of the Round of 16.

West Ham has won back-to-back league matches against their matchday 30 counterparts, but Tottenham did take out the Hammers in the Carabao Cup in December.

Tottenham Needs More Consistency

Antonio Conte’s men are just three points off fourth-place Arsenal, but the Gunners do have two games hand. Nonetheless, Tottenham is well in the mix for Europe, but they’re far too inconsistent from week to week. Spurs haven’t secured two wins in a row since mid-December, beating West Ham then Crystal Palace. Since, it’s been a mix of wins, losses, and draws.

Brighton was no match for Tottenham, who frankly dominated Wednesday’s clash. However, the side should’ve had more than two goals, registering a total of 17 attempts, with seven finding the target. The Seagulls enjoyed their fair share of chances though, but the end product lacked. One huge positive for Spurs right now is Harry Kane finding his form. He’s now scored four times in his last three outings while netting a brace earlier this month in a 5-0 shellacking of Everton.

Although Tottenham’s recent record against West Ham isn’t great, Conte’s group has only lost two of their last 19 Premier League home games versus the Hammers. Their last victory in North London was also the smacking of the Toffees.

West Ham Riding a European High

Thursday was a very special night for David Moyes’ squad, booking their ticket to the last eight of Europa with one of the most historic wins in club history. Heading into the return fixture down by a goal, the Hammers quickly drew level in the first half with Tomas Soucek heading home a cross from Michail Antonio. While West Ham had lots of opportunities to go ahead through the 90 minutes, it took extra time to decide the winner.

In the 112′, Andriy Yarmolenko calmly put away a rebound from a long-distance strike from Pablo Fornals, sending the London Stadium into a frenzy. It’s their first European quarterfinal in 41 years and you better believe West Ham will be full of confidence heading into Sunday. Prior to this victory, the Hammers also ran out as 2-1 winners against Aston Villa last weekend, with Fornals bagging the winner.

Moyes’ side currently sits just above Spurs in the table because of a superior goal difference, but they’ve lost three consecutive road games, scoring just once during that span and conceding five times. The Hammers will be without a key piece of their attack in Jarrod Bowen, while backline duo Angelo Ogbonna and Vladimir Coufal are sidelined due to injury as well.

Tottenham vs West Ham Prediction

As much as I love how West Ham played on Thursday, Sevilla was a rather poor opponent and the Hammers had to play an entire 120 minutes, with only two full days of rest before this fixture. Add in the absences of two important defenders and a midfielder, along with the fact that Tottenham plays well on home soil, I think the hosts will come out victorious here. Given the trends of the over in goals in recent meetings, it should hold value again, too.

Picks: Tottenham (-136), Tottenham to Win and Both Teams to Score (+240), Over 2.5 Goals (-137)
