It’s Day 10 of the French Open, and top seeds have been dropping like flies, giving space to young up and coming tennis phenoms to make a splash.

17-year old American Amanda Anisimova has had average odds of +7200 on May 24 and +7300 on May 28. But she has since seen her French Open odds continue to shorten dramatically as she moved to +3300, and finally now at +1600 after her round of 16 win and quarterfinal birth.
No Easy Task
Anisimova will be facing Simona Halep in the quarterfinals which will not be an easy match for the young up and coming tennis star. Halep is coming off a 6-1, 6-0 sweep over Iga Swiatek that only lasted 45 minutes. This will be Halep’s third consecutive Roland-Garros quarterfinal as she continues to fight for a back-to-back championship.

Upset Season?
This French Open has been a bit different from years past, with some top seeds falling off and being upset. No. 4 ranked Kiki Bertens withdrew and Canadian Bianca Andreescu took herself out of the tournament as well. Halep is one of only two women left in the draw who already own a major title, which speaks volumes for the tournament.

Anisimova has earned the right to face the 27-year-old champion on Wednesday after overwhelming Aliona Blosova earlier today where she beat her 6-3, 6-0.
Head-to-Head
Both players have had obvious success, but both have parts of their game show up short, where the other could capitalize on during the matchup.
Halep started off the tournament somewhat shaky with a couple of three-sets, but has since played a total of four games over the past two rounds. She has won 70% of her opponents’ service games, which is 30 of 43, leading the tournament by far. But her own serving on the other hand has given her problems, at a 65% hold rate.
American Anisimova takes balls a bit early, not waiting for the full bounce which sometimes hurts her, but she uses her strength to cross up her opponents, making up for her mistakes throughout.
Although Anisimova has stated that she feels she was mimicking Halep in her match after watching her play, I think the ten-year age difference that translates into experience will give Simona the upper hand in this quarterfinal matchup and to win overall.
