Swiatek’s Comeback

It took just over three hours for the 22-year old to piece together a comeback against Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic. She went onto win 6(4)-7(7), 7(7)-6 (2), 6-3, in what was the third longest match of Swiatek’s career. This is also the first time Swiatek has made it past the fourth round of Wimbledon. It was just last year that her staggering 37 match winning streak came to an end when she lost in the third round.

Heading into her fourth round match, Swiatek had yet to drop a set, so it was much to everyone’s surprise when Bencic managed to secure that first set of the match. But after that first set, something changed for Swiatek, and came out to a 3-1 lead in the second. Unfortunately, Bencic managed to comeback, and all of a sudden it was 6-5, and Swiatek saw herself down match point.

From then on, it was Swiatek’s match. She figured something out in the tiebreak, as she managed to score five consecutive points that led to a deciding set.

It took just 23 minutes for Swiatek to take the 6-3 deciding set.

With the win, Swiatek has extended her winning streak to 14 matches.

Svitolina Continues On

The 28-year old made headlines when she had to give up her Harry Styles tickets to play in Wimbledon. The superstar responded inviting her to any of the remaining shows left. But with the way she’s playing, she might not be able to make a show.

Svitolina is coming off a three-set thriller, where she upset 19th seed Victoria Azarenka 2-6, 6-4, 7(11)-6(9).

The Ukrainian recorded eight aces to zero double faults, while her opponent only managed four aces, while hitting eight double faults.

Svitolina is now the first wildcard to reach the quarterfinals of Wimbledon for the first time since 2011.

Swiatek vs Svitolina History

This will be the second time these two players have played each other. The first time happened in 2021, where Swiatek won in straight sets.

Swiatek vs Svitolina Prediction

Both players are coming off long three-set matches that pushed their limits. We’ve seen that the grass court isn’t either Swiatek nor Svitolina’s strongest surface. So what does that mean for this match and the best bet?

The two have a similar style of play in terms of how strong they are from the baseline and how powerful their serves can be. You’ll see that Swiatek can contribute a bit more variety into her game than Svitolina can.

But it is Svitolina here who is the more experienced at Wimbledon out of the two. She reached the semifinals in 2019, and Swiatek had actually never made it passed the fourth round before this year.

Regardless of the winner here, look for the match to go the distance in our Swiatek vs Svitolina picks.
