The 29-year-old will face Marketa Vondrousova of Czechia on Tuesday for a spot in the semis, and online sportsbooks are bullish on her chances of advancing in the Jessica Pegula vs Marketa Vondrousova odds.

Jessica Pegula Betting Analysis

Pegula became only the fifth American woman to ever reach the quarterfinal stage at all four majors in the last 25 years, knocking off Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko on Sunday. Pegula dropped just four total games en route to a straight sets victory, converting five of 11 break point chances, and holding serve on seven of eight service games.

This will mark her first ever quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon, and she’s barely broken a sweat after a difficult opening round match. Pegula was pushed to three sets by fellow American Lauren Davis in Round 1, but since then it’s been smooth sailing.

She’s yet to drop a set in her subsequent three matches, losing a grand total of only 12 games. She made it through to the quarters in her only other grass court event this year, and has now reached the final eight in all but three of her 11 tournaments in 2023.

The downside is she’s yet to win a title, and has never made it past the quarterfinal state at a Grand Slam. Her recent victories over the last week have been impressive, but it’s important to note the level of competition.

None of the ladies she’s beaten have been ranked inside the top-43, and she’s beaten only one top-20 player in the world since early April. Fortunately for her, Tuesday’s opponent is yet another woman ranked outside the top-40.

Marketa Vondrousova Betting Analysis

Vondrousova meanwhile, has knocked off a higher ranked opponent in three consecutive matches. Two of those ladies were seeded 20th or better, while she overcame a sloppy start in the Round of 16 to upset countrywoman Marie Bouzkova.

Vondrousova battled back after dropping the opening set, and fought through 44 unforced errors to grind out a three-set victory. Like Pegula, she’s through to the quarters for the first time at Wimbledon, after failing to get past the second round in previous years.

The 24-year-old is best known for a runner-up finish at Roland Garros in 2019. Since then however, injuries and inconsistent play have held her back. She failed to make it past the Round of 32 in any of her previous five Grand Slam appearances, but there’s reason to believe she’s trending up.

Vondrousova made it to the quarters in her only other grass court tournament this year, and has the pedigree of a dangerous opponent.

Pegula vs Vondrousova Predictions

She’s a former top ranked junior and an Olympic silver medalist. Vondrousova has the ability to play with both power and finesse, and her willingness to change speeds quickly will be a highly effective strategy versus Pegula on grass.

Yes, her round of 16 performance was inconsistent, but she’s beaten a much tougher set of opponents than Pegula so far, and won’t go down without a fight.

Expect her to push Pegula to the brink, and don’t rule out the possibility of an upset. +125 in the Jessica Pegula vs Marketa Vondrousova odds is a very enticing price for Vondrousova, but the safer wager is to play over 21.5 games.
