Historical Super Bowl Spreads, Over/Unders & Betting Results for Each Year
By Matt McEwan
Super Bowl 58 is now upon us, as the NFL prepares to kickoff 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada at 6:30pm ET. For now, you can take a look back at the betting lines (point spreads and game totals), scores, and betting results for the previous 57 Super Bowls.
Our data below will tell you who the favorite was in each Super Bowl, what each Super Bowl’s over/under betting line was set at, which team won the Super Bowl, which team covered the spread in each Super Bowl, as well as whether the AFC or NFC won the Super Bowl, among other things.
In viewing the table below, most columns are very straight forward to what they’re displaying. But the final one – “SU + ATS” – details whether or not the team who won the game also covered the spread. If it says “Yes”, the team who won also covered. If “No”, the team who won did not cover the spread.

Don’t want to dive into the raw data any further? Just want the high-level view of how historical trends can help you bet Super Bowl 58? Check out these two resources:
There are eight NFL franchises who have won back-to-back Super Bowls: the Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, and now Kansas City Chiefs.
The Buffalo Bills are the NFL team who has appeared in the most consecutive Super Bowls. Buffalo went to four straight Super Bowls (25-28). Sadly for #BillsMafia, their team would lose each one of those Super Bowls.
The most common Super Bowl matchup has been the Steelers vs Cowboys, which has happened three times now. The first Super Bowl meeting between Pittsburgh and Dallas came in Super Bowl 10, which was played in 1976, and the most recent was Super Bowl 30, which was in 1996.
Super Bowl Wins by Conference – AFC vs NFC Stats
Team | All-Time SU Record | SU Record in Last 10 | All-Time ATS Record | ATS Record in Last 10 |

NFC | 29-29 | 3-7 | 28-28-2 | 2-8 |

The conferences are currently tied for Super Bowl wins with 29 each. The AFC has won seven of the last ten Super Bowls, though.

The two conferences are also deadlocked when it comes to ATS wins with 28 each. There are two pushes in Super Bowl history. However, the AFC has covered the spread in eight of the last ten Super Bowls.
The NFC holds the longest Super Bowl winning streak, hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in an impressive 13 straight from 1985-1997.

Favorites no longer have an edge when it comes to covering the spread in the Super Bowl, though. The team favored to win the Super Bowl is 28-28-2 against the spread. Underdogs have been hot against the spread lately, covering the spread in seven of the last ten Super Bowls.
