Real Madrid’s star defender Sergio Ramos had become a target for the backers of Chinese football who aim to make the nation one of the game’s major powers in the future.
World Cup winner Ramos revealed that he received a lucrative offer from the far East. However, odds were released for his potential transfer favor a stay at Real Madrid at odds of -250. ‘Any Chinese Club’ was given the next shortest odds at +250.

The outfit seeking to sign him was never named, and no transfer fee had officially been offered. Bettors who jumped on the -250 early could’ve made a quick payout, as this afternoon Ramos confirmed he will in fact be staying at Real Madrid.

Manchester United had been the next most-favored destination for Ramos at +900.
Defensive Talent Would Be in Demand
A move to France with Paris Saint-Germain had also been listed in the prop at odds of +1200. The idea of 33-year-old Ramos joining other clubs among the European elite seeking to improve their fortunes in the Champions League prompted additional odds. This included +1600 for a switch to Juventus. There was also +4000 for Manchester City and +8000 for Barcelona.

Ramos is regarded as one of the world’s most accomplished and commanding centre-backs and has won the Champions League four times with Madrid. He has also won four La Liga titles.
The defender has 163 international caps for Spain – for whom he is also captain – and was an influential figure in their World Cup winning team of 2010.
Ramos was also part of the sides which were victorious in the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
President Perez Revealed Offer
The emergence of the offer from China was revealed by Real Madrid’s President, Florentino Perez, and confirmed by Ramos.
Real failed to win a trophy in 2018-19 and finished 19 points behind La Liga champions Barcelona.
However, Ramos has subsequently declared that he hopes to finish his career playing for Real Madrid.

These have been turbulent times at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and the revelation of the secretive bid from China could be seen as part of a political power game behind the scenes at the club.

Return of Coach Zidane
Manager Zinedine Zidane – who won three consecutive Champions League titles while in command in 2016, 2017 and 2018 – returned to the job in March only ten months after he left it.
A major restructuring is now planned and leading figures and players at the club are seeking to secure their future positions. And looks like Ramos will continue to be a part of that re-build.
