It’s a good time to look ahead to 2020 and find some value on who might win a major next year before some golfers get hot and drive down their odds to win one of golf’s elusive major championships.
Tiger Woods and Brooks Koepka both won a major title last year and we have the likelihood that they’ll add to their major haul right here.
The line is set on 13 different big name golfers and whether or not they’ll taste major success in 2020. Who are the better bets to win and who are the players to avoid?

Jon Rahm Poised to Join Golf’s Elite
No one in the world of golf is as hot as Jon Rahm is at the moment with six top three finishes in his last eleven worldwide starts, including victories at the Spanish and Irish Opens.
The top-five player in the world has been inconsistent in the big events the last two years, however, with five top-11 finishes mixed in with three missed cuts.

The 24-year old Spaniard has no physical weaknesses and he’s becoming more and more consistent. Perhaps his biggest limitation in the past was a fiery temper that would derail him. R
ahm has worked hard on that and with a super tight golf game to go along with an improved mental approach and focus, he is the best bet to rise to super stardom in 2020.
Pick: Jon Rahm Wins One Major (+400)
Justin Thomas Ready to Win Another Major
Surprisingly, after winning the 2017 PGA Championship Justin Thomas has a lone top-10 finish in the majors the last two seasons. He’s ready to change all that now that he’s back to full health and the world #4 could easily stake his claim to the hottest golfer on the planet over Rahm.
Thomas has two victories in his last four starts and hasn’t been worse than 12th in his last eight times teeing it up.
Most @PGATOUR wins before age 27, last 30 years:
Tiger Woods – 34
Justin Thomas – 11
Phil Mickelson – 11
Rory McIlroy – 11
Jordan Spieth – 11— Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) October 20, 2019
Nine of his eleven PGA Tour victories have come in an incredible three-year span, including a WGC title and two FedEx Cup Playoff events. There’s no reason to suggest that he won’t keep the good times rolling come 2020 and dominate like he did in 2017 en route to five titles that season.
Pick: Justin Thomas Wins One Major (+500)
Patrick Cantlay Presents Great Odds to Win Major
The way Patrick Cantlay is golfing – two runner-up finishes in his last four starts – you should wager on him to win a major in 2020 immediately because his +700 odds will likely shrink as he keeps up his impressive pace. While his two PGA Tour victories don’t appear to point to a harbinger of things to come in the majors, don’t let that fool you – there’s a reason he’s ranked sixth in the world.

He has absolutely zero flaws in his game, as evidenced by being in the top-26 in the big six “strokes gained” categories on tour last season, with four of them being in the top-10. He co-led the Masters with three holes to play this year and finished T-3rd at the PGA Championship. Years worth of injuries and personal hardships behind him, Cantlay is poised to break out in a big way in 2020 and it could result in his first major victory.
Pick: Patrick Cantlay Wins One Major (+700)
