- The Hero World Challenge tees off Wednesday, December 4th
- Elite 18-man field competing including Tiger Woods
- See the golfers with the best value to emerge victorious
The Hero World Challenge features 18 of the top players in the world (Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka aren’t playing due to injury) competing in the Bahamas for an event benefiting the Tiger Woods foundation. This will be the fifth consecutive year this is being held at this venue and it starts a day earlier than most tournaments so golfers playing in next week’s Presidents Cup can get to Australia a day earlier.
A world class field is teeing it up including defending champion Jon Rahm, who has won his last two worldwide starts, and Tiger Woods, who is competing for the first time since winning the Zozo Championship in Japan.

Jon Rahm on a Worldwide Tear
The hottest golfer on the planet is Jon Rahm, having posted two straight victories, and he comes into this tournament with great vibes after winning by four strokes last year. Rahm recently won the European Tour’s ‘Race to Dubai’ after defeating the field at the DP World Tour Championship and has posted eerily similar numbers to Tiger to begin his career.

Weirdly it feels like Rahm isn’t quite getting the adulation he’s due perhaps because he’s racking up a lot of victories in Europe instead of stateside. He deserves all the accolades and though his odds are super low at +450, he only has to beat 17 other golfers making a wager on him the prudent play.

2019 Hero World Challenge Best Value Picks
- Tiger Woods (+900): It’s always difficult to know when to pull the trigger on a Tiger Woods bet, but these odds aren’t too bad. It’s a course he’s been comfortable on before which should lead to boatloads of birdies. He’s won this event five times (never at this course, however).
- Justin Rose (+1600): Seemingly hasn’t been as sharp as usual but he’s been consistently decent without a missed cut since April. Hasn’t had a ton of high finishes but a lot of respectable showings. He’s finished third and fifth in the last two years at this tournament.
- Bubba Watson (+3300): The enigmatic Watson won this event in 2015 but hasn’t had the best form in 2019. Against a small field, however, you can do much worse than these odds for a player that goes in and out of being interested in grinding out wins.
