Utah opened as a 2.5-point home favorite over undefeated USC. The Trojans, 4-2 ATS, are an underdog for the first time this season. The Utes are 1-2 SU and ATS in the last three games against USC but 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings with the Trojans at home. Utah 7-1 ATS in its last eight home games.

USC is 4-2 ATS this season but 1-4 ATS in its last five on the road dating back to last season. The Trojans won the last meeting in Salt Lake City 33-17 in 2020, covering as a 1-point favorite. The game has gone over the total in five of the last seven meetings, and another was a push.
USC Keeps Rolling
USC improved to 6-0 for the first time since 2006 with a 30-14 victory over Washington State on Saturday, a good day for the Trojans’ portal transfers.

Oklahoma transfer quarterback Caleb Williams, a top contender in the Heisman Trophy odds, threw a pair of touchdown pasess to fellow Sooner transfer Mario WIlliams and former Oregon running back Travis Dye rushed for 149 yards and a score to keep ex-OU coach Lincoln Riley stay perfect.
The Trojans limited Washington State to 316 yards total offense and shut the Cougars out in the second half despite several absences. Linebacker Shane Lee missed the game because of a wrist injury and safety Calen Bullock was ejected for targeting in the second quarter. Bullock will be eligible to return against Utah game.
Travis Dye is one of the most important pieces @uscfb team. He’s experienced and an exceptional leader. If they are going to make a run he will be a big reason for it.

Pitt wide receiver transfer Jordan Addison, the reigning Biletnikoff Award-winner, left the game in the second half with an undisclosed injury. He returned but did not have another reception.
Utah Falls Flat in LA
Utah was outplayed in a 42-32 loss to undefeated UCLA on Saturday, breaking a five-game winning streak against the Bruins. The game that was that close only because of a 80-yard interception return for touchdown by Utah cornerback Clark Phillips III with 31 seconds remaining. Phillips has five interceptions and has returned two for touchdowns this season.

The Utes’ defense failed to hold up against the Bruins, giving up 502 yards total offense, including 198 rushing yards to halfback Zach Charbonnet. They Utes had given up an average of 279 yards in its first five games.
Utah has struggled against dual-threat quarterbacks this season, losing 29-26 to Florida’s Anthony Richardson (274 yards total offense, three touchdowns) on opening day and UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson (307 total yards, five touchdowns). USC’s Caleb Williams has not been the running threat he was last season at Oklahoma, but he has that ability.
Expected Line Movement
The line was all over the place Sunday morning. DraftKings posted Utah as a 2.5-point favorite early while FanDuel very briefly had USC as a 1.5-point favorite before immediately taking that number down. BetMGM also had the Trojans as an early 1.5-point favorite.
The Utes are in danger of falling two games behind UCLA and USC in the Pac-12 South — a division they have won three of the last four seasons — and they still have road games against Oregon and Washington State. Utah won this game 42-26 in the Coliseum last year.
Although Washington State’s defense did a good job against Caleb Williams, the public likes USC and always will, so expect the money to move toward the underdog.
