  • Germany’s lethal attack faces a depleted Ivory Coast defense at the World Cup today
  • I expect a high-scoring affair given Germany’s seven-goal outburst in their opening match

A massive betting favorite meets a confident underdog today when Germany squares off against Ivory Coast at BMO Field, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. With kickoff set for 4:00 PM ET, this pivotal group-stage clash features two sides riding high on opening-match victories. For whichever nation emerges victorious, a coveted ticket to the knockout rounds of the printable World Cup bracket is virtually guaranteed.

Julian Nagelsmann’s German powerhouse is a deserving favorite in the World Cup game odds, with elite playmakers like Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz looking to torch the defense. Meanwhile, the Ivorians, anchored in midfield by Franck Kessie, are out to spring a massive upset.

Can the European giants continue their offensive onslaught, or will the physical African side grind the game to a halt? See below for my top Germany vs Ivory Coast expert picks, predictions and props.

Germany enters this Group E clash as the definitive chalk, commanding 65¢ on the Kalshi moneyline contract. An Ivory Coast upset is priced at just 17¢, while the draw sits at 21¢. In traditional sports betting terms, those prices represent -186, +488 and +376 odds respectively.

The over 2.5 goals contract currently sits at 61¢ on Kalshi, implying roughly -156 odds. For comparison, DraftKings has the same over priced at -170 after heavy public money pushed the line following Germany’s seven-goal opening display. Kalshi offers clearly superior value for over backers.

With both sides coming off opening-day victories, I am looking strictly at tactical footprints rather than long-term historical metrics. Germany, one of the favorites in the World Cup winner odds, suffocated their previous opponent with 65% possession, launching a staggering 26 total shots.

The Pick: Germany 3-Way Moneyline (65¢ at Kalshi)

Ivory Coast managed a 1-0 win over Ecuador but conceded 49% possession. Conceding the ball to a German midfield operating at this level of efficiency is a dangerous game. Given Germany’s 10-match winning streak, I am confidently backing the favorites.

The Pick: Over 2.5 Total Goals (61¢ at Kalshi)

I am also targeting the over. Germany proved their capable of an offensive eruption in their first match, while Ivory Coast showed they are willing to take chances by firing 16 shots in their opener. I love the over here, and buying the Yes contract at 61¢ on Kalshi implies a roughly -156 price, beating DraftKings’ steep -170 juice.

Germany vs Ivory Coast Recent Form

GermanyW-W-W-W-W-W-W (100%)276
Ivory CoastW-L-W-W-W-W-W (85.7%)166

Both teams are riding massive waves of momentum into BMO Field. Germany has maintained their form since their dominant qualifying run. They are riding a pristine 10-match winning streak overall, heavily supported by a staggering goal differential.

The Ivorians have won six of their last seven contests. Their only slip was a narrow 3-2 defeat to Egypt back in January. Emerse Fae has built a resilient side, but matching Germany’s attacking depth over 90 minutes feels like an impossible task.

Germany vs Ivory Coast Stats

Shots on Target11.0 (2nd)4.0 (T-19th)
Ball Possession65% (T-5th)49% (T-27th)

They are polar opposites in both execution and ambition. Germany plays an overwhelming, suffocating brand of attacking soccer. Holding the ball for 65% of the match allows them to dictate the tempo entirely.

Conversely, Ivory Coast presents a rigid, opportunistic profile. While they didn’t concede in their opener, facing an attack that routinely puts double-digit shots on frame will ultimately break the Ivorian defensive block.

The Pick: Kai Havertz Anytime Goalscorer (40¢ at Kalshi)

Finally, there are numerous types of World Cup prop bets, but my favorite is Havertz to score. Julian Nagelsmann’s tactical setup is explicitly designed to funnel high-danger chances to his number nine. Havertz ruthlessly capitalized on matchday one with two goals.

While traditional sportsbooks price Havertz as an anytime goalscorer around +134, you can secure “Kai Havertz 1+ Goal: Yes” for 40¢ at Kalshi. This translates to +150 odds, providing exceptional positive expected value (+EV). The European giants will press early and often, making Havertz the most statistically probable candidate to light the lamp.
