Syracuse Betting Outlook
Coming off its first losing season since 1968-69, Syracuse is struggling again in the early going of the 2022-23 season. The Orange have a young team with three underclassmen starting.
Syracuse shot just 27.8% (15-of-54) from the field at Illinois and 29.4% (5-of-27) on three-pointers. The Orange also had 17 turnovers and did not have a player score in double figures.
Senior center Jesse Edwards played well, though. He finished with nine points, 17 rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and two steals.
Edwards is averaging 13.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks a game. He leads the ACC in rebounding and blocked shots. Edwards is also fourth nationally in rebounds.

Freshman guard Judah Mintz has emerged as Syracuse’s leading scorer with a 15.1 average. He is also dishing 3.1 assists a game. On Tuesday, he tallied nine points and five assists.
Senior guard Joseph Girard III is averaging 13.4 points a game.
The frustrating start to the season seems to be getting to Syracuse.
Against Illinois, sophomore forward Benny Williams was ejected after accruing two technical fouls. Mintz was tossed from the previous game, a loss to Bryant.
Notre Dame Betting Outlook
Senior guard Cormac Ryan’s big shooting night led Notre Dame to its convincing win over Michigan State as he finished with 23 points.
Ryan connected on 8-of-11 field goal attempts, including six of seven three-pointers. He had 20 points in the first half when the Fighting Irish took a 42-24 lead and beat a ranked team for just the fourth time in 34 tries over the last five seasons.
Ryan is averaging 11.9 points a game and is one of five Notre Dame players scoring in double figures.

Senior forward Nate Laszewski has emerged as the Fighting Irish’s top player, though he was held to nine points by Michigan State to go with eight rebounds.
Laszewski is averaging 16.9 points – which ranks fifth in the ACC – and 8.6 rebounds. He is third in the conference with a 54.5 field goal percentage.
Senior guard Dane Goodwin has averages of 14.0 points and 4.7 rebounds. Freshman guard JJ Starling’s scoring average is 13.0 and senior guard Trey Wentz is scoring 11.3 points and handing out 4.7 assists a game.
Starling had 14 points on Wednesday despite missing all seven shots from distance. Goodwin chipped in with 12 points.
The Fighting Irish shot 50% (27-of-54) from the field and knocked down 11-of-26 (42.3%) three-point attempts. They also had just six turnovers.
Notre Dame’s 81.3% free throw percentage is seventh in the nation.
Syracuse vs Notre Dame Prediction
Notre Dame won the lone matchup between the schools last season 79-69 in South Bend. Laszewski had 17 points and Ryan 16.
It is hard to believe that a Jim Boeheim-coached team will play as poorly again as it did against Illinois. Look for a bounce-back effort from Syracuse.
Pick: Syracuse +5.5 (-110)
