After looking every part of the contender against the West-leading OKC Thunder in the first half of Game 1 of the conference finals, the wheels came off the Minnesota Timberwolves.
They were blasted 114-88, getting outscored by 30 points in the second half. Now, staring at a potential 2-0 deficit to the Thunder, a few T-Wolves headline our same-game parlay for Game 2.
We’ll start with star Anthony Edwards, who went radio silent in the fourth quarter of Game 1.

Timberwolves vs Thunder Parlay Leg #1 – Edwards Over 25.5 points
Perhaps the most refreshing thing about Anthony Edwards is his honesty. After looking at the scoresheet following their Game 1 loss, he stated simply “I definitely got to shoot more. I took 13 (expletive) shots.”
That’s about all we need to know in what amounts to a virtual must-win for Minnesota. Sure, it’s not over, but good luck trying to take four of the next five from the best team in the NBA this season.
This is the second-lowest scoring game for Ant in these playoffs, following the 15 he put up in the Game 5 elimination game over the Lakers.
He doesn’t even need to be special: the guy is averaging 25.7 points per game in these playoffs on 44.2% shooting from the field and 38.4% from distance. Just take your usual 20 field goals per game, and the Over is yours.
- The Bet: Edwards Over 25.5 points (-115 at Bet365)
Timberwolves vs Thunder SGP Leg #2 – Williams Over 4.5 Assists
Not sure how it’s happened, but Jalen Williams has turned into the de facto point forward for the Thunder, showcasing the versatility in his game to support MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Take Game 1, where he went for 19 points, eight boards, five assists and five steals.
Bet365 has him at 4.5 dimes, and that number is key, because Williams has hit five dimes or more in 10 of 12 playoff games this season — exactly five assists six times.
Williams initiated a lot of offense in Game 1 to keep Minnesota’s hounding defense off SGA, allowing him to play off ball and not get so bogged down in 1-on-1 stuff.
Expect to see more of that, and more Williams assists, in Game 2.
- The Bet: Williams Over 4.5 assists (-140 at Bet365)
Timberwolves vs Thunder Same-Game Parlay Leg #3 – Gobert Over 6.5 points
Rudy Gobert was a non factor in Game 1, and I think that was more a byproduct of getting into early foul trouble, and Minnesota getting a little too 3-point crazy early on.
Wildly enough, Gobert’s two-point outing only ties for his second-lowest scoring output in the playoffs, as he scored a single free throw in Game 3 against the Lakers.
Against Golden State, Gobert had at least seven points in four of the five games, punctuated with 17 in the clincher.
I expect the Timberwolves to find Gobert for some early stuff underneath, and to see him more involved inside throughout the game, whether through offensive rebounding and scoring, or dump offs on Minnesota drives.
- The Bet: Gobert Over 6.5 points (+105 at bet365)
