At least one American woman will be competing in the 2025 French Open semifinals as compatriots Cori Gauff and Madison Keys are set to meet in the quarters on Tuesday, June 3rd, at Roland Garros (start time TBD).

Both steamrolled through their first four opponents, Gauff without losing a set, Keys dropping just one. Keys leads the current H2H (3-2) and won the only previous match on clay, but the younger Gauff is favored to advance to her second straight semifinal at Roland Garros.

Game Spread-3.5 (-115)+3.5 (-125)
Game TotalO 21.5 (-120)U 21.5 (-110)

Gauff opened as a sizable -225 favorite but that line has dropped to -200 over the last 24 hours, giving the 21-year-old a 66.67% implied win probability. Keys, who opened as a +184 underdog, has improved to +155 (a 39.22% implied win probability). The game total is sitting at 21.5 with the over slightly favored at -120. The game spread has Gauff -3.5 at -115 odds and Keys +3.5 at -125 (which is an absurd amount of juice).

Gauff cruised past Olivia Gadecki (6-2, 6-2), Tereza Valentova (6-2, 6-4), Marie Bouzkova (6-1, 7-63), and Ekaterina Alexandrova (6-0, 7-5) in the first four rounds.

Gauff has reached the French Open quarters in each of the last five tournaments and was the runner-up in 2022, getting dusted by clay-court goat Iga Swiatek in the finale (6-1, 6-3).

Keys took down Daria Saville (6-2, 6-1), Katie Boulter (6-1, 6-3), Sofia Kenin (4-6, 6-3, 7-5), and Hailey Baptiste (6-3, 7-5) to reach the quarterfinals.

The 30-year-old’s best result at the French Open is a semifinal appearance, but that came back in 2018. This is her first appearance in the quarters at Roland Garros since 2019. But she is, of course, coming off her first-career Grand Slam title at the 2025 Australian Open.

Keys won each of the last two matchups against Gauff, including, to the surprise of many, their only clay-court meeting back in April of last year at the Mutua Madrid Open.

Both of Gauff’s victories against Keys came on hard courts.

Gauff vs Keys Prediction & Picks

  • Keys to win at least one set (-135) at DraftKings
  • Over 21.5 games (-120) at Caesars

I’m not keen to bet against Gauff advancing, despite Keys’ track record against her. Gauff has a better clay-court pedigree and reached the final at both the Madrid Open and Italian Open in the build-up to the French, dusting Swiatek (6-1, 6-1) along the way.

Keys was ousted in the second round in Italy, getting upset by Peyton Stearns (2-6, 6-2, 7-63), and lost to Swiatek in the quarters in Madrid (0-6, 6-3, 6-2). She was also trending down at the end of the hard-court season on home soil.

But she’s bounced back in a big way in Paris and I don’t expect her to go down without a serious fight. She’s a former finalist here and should have plenty of confidence after winning the Aussie Open just five months ago.
