The undefeated Jaron “Boots” Ennis (34-0) makes his super welterweight debut Saturday night against Uisma Lima (14-1) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Even his own promoter Eddie Hearn is already apologizing for the matchmaking, but online sportsbooks aren’t taking any chances. They’ve made Ennis a massive -2300 favorite, and I predict the Philadelphia native will justify those odds with an early stoppage.

The fight takes place Saturday at 8:00 PM ET on DAZN, with the main event expected around 10:30 PM ET.

Ennis vs Lima Prediction

This fight was built for Ennis to make a statement at 154 pounds, and Lima is the perfect opponent to achieve that goal. The 32-year-old Angolan brings a 14-1 record with 10 knockouts, but his resume tells the real story. His only loss came against Aaron McKenna in 2023, a near shutout on the scorecards that exposed him against better competition.

FanDuel also offers some interesting specials worth considering. Ennis to win, throw the most punches, and land the most punches pays +170, a logical parlay given his aggression and Lima’s come-forward style. For those feeling bold, Ennis to land 28+ punches in each of rounds 4-9 sits at +2200, though that requires the fight to go longer than I expect.

Lima hasn’t fought anyone close to Ennis’s level. Since that loss to McKenna, he’s beaten four regional fighters in Germany, Canada and South Africa. He’s tough and comes forward, but that aggressive style plays directly into what Ennis does best.

Teddy Atlas’s analysis nails it. This fight comes down to Ennis’s choice. He can win easily on the outside with his jab and superior boxing. But that’s not what sells tickets or sets up bigger fights. Moving up in weight, fighting at home, Ennis needs to make a statement.

The specific vulnerability Atlas identifies is crucial. Lima gets hit with uppercuts at a pretty good rate because he squares up when fighting inside. Ennis has faster, shorter punches when working inside, and his combinations are devastating. Atlas predicts it won’t be one shot but “three or four in a row” – uppercut, left hook, right hand.

Here’s why the early rounds make sense: 31 of Ennis’s 34 victories have come in rounds 1-6. His knockout percentage sits at 88%, and he’s stopped his last three opponents. According to CompuBox, Ennis lands 43.3% of his power punches, 7% better than the super welterweight average.

Lima’s aggression means he’ll walk into shots early. He doesn’t have an outside game, so he must get close to have any success. That means eating Ennis’s jab on the way in, and once he gets there, he’ll face those uppercuts he’s vulnerable to. I see Ennis hurting Lima early, and the accumulation forcing a stoppage before Round 7.

The moneyline tells you everything. Ennis at -2300 means you’d need to bet $2300 to win $100. Lima comes back at +1500, offering a $1500 return on a $100 bet.

The method of victory market offers better value. Ennis by knockout is -400, reflecting his 88% stoppage rate and the mismatch in skill levels. The under 7.5 rounds sits at +105, while under 6.5 rounds is +145. These lines suggest the books expect an early finish, too.

Ennis vs Lima Tale of the Tape

The experience gap jumps out immediately. Ennis has fought 34 times professionally with 30 knockouts. Lima has just 15 pro fights. More importantly, Ennis has faced and destroyed better opposition. Eimantas Stanionis, David Avanesyan, and Roiman Villa all fell in his last four fights.

Lima competed at middleweight before dropping down, so he’ll have a slight size advantage. But Ennis’s physical advantages, his 74-inch reach, superior hand speed, and proven power, should overwhelm any size difference.

The undercard features some intriguing matchups. Heavyweights Alexis Barriere and Guido Vianello are nearly pick ’em odds at -125 and +100 respectively, suggesting a close battle.

Tahmir Smalls comes in as a -800 favorite against Jose Roman Vazquez at welterweight, looking to continue his momentum in front of the Philadelphia crowd. The rest of the card features local talent and rising prospects getting valuable exposure on the DAZN platform.

The real story Saturday night won’t be whether Ennis wins. It’s how impressively he does it. With talks already underway for a potential fight against Vergil Ortiz in 2026, Ennis needs to deliver the kind of performance that sells tickets. Against an overmatched Lima, expect fireworks early and often from one of boxing’s most exciting young champions.
