  • The Philadelphia Eagles are in Los Angeles, taking on the Chargers in the Week 14 edition of Monday Night Football
  • I don’t have to tell you that this could be the opportunity of a lifetime

We slapped the books around last night. Everyone saw us do it. I actually thought we were going to catch a charge because normally, people get in trouble when they abuse others like that. Thankfully for us, there were no charges filed. For that reason, I think we should do it again tonight. We’re looking at the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers. At first glance, the game looks like a dud. But when we start deep-diving a little, that all changes. In fact, it goes from a dud to an opportunity for us to get into the Gambling Hall of Fame. Maybe even on the first ballot. I can’t believe they’re even going to let us bet this. Feels easy.

Eagles vs Chargers SGP Leg #1 – The Chargers Will Just Run The Ball

All anyone can talk about is the fact that Justin Herbert has a broken bone in his hand. I get it. That’s kind of a big deal. The thing is, the bone that is broken is in his non-throwing hand. Still, it stands to reason that the Chargers may want to take Herbert’s hand out of the equation as much as possible tonight.

But what if Herbert’s hand really has nothing to do with the Chargers’ decision to run the ball all night? What if they do it because the Eagles haven’t been able to stop the run this season?

Now is where we need to galaxy-brain this thing a little bit. Since we think the Chargers are just going to run the ball all night, we need to pick a running back. The thing is, Omarion Hampton is coming back from injury, so we don’t know his level of involvement. Is he “back, back” or just “back?” We have no idea.

This is where the galaxy braining gets real. Early in the season, Hampton was getting basically all of the work, so there is a world where he does so again tonight. But in those early-season games, Herbert was also running the ball a bit, which I don’t think will happen tonight. Some of those runs were designed too, so those carries have to go somewhere.

My guess is that Omarion Hampton is heavily involved in the Chargers’ run game. Maybe not at the level he was involved when he got hurt, but still involved. We just watched the Chicago Bears have two guys go for 125+ rushing yards each against these same Eagles last time out. It wouldn’t be crazy to see the Chargers do the same thing tonight, given the circumstances. If that happens, Hampton should go for 40+ rushing yards. Feels easy.

PHI vs LAC Same-Game Parlay Leg #2 – The Eagles Hate Offense

If you’ve ever watched these two teams play, then you know they take forever with the ball. They remind me of Sergio Garcia back in the day on the golf course. The guy would just stare at the ball all day before he swung at it. That’s basically these two teams right before they snap the ball.

Now combine that with the fact that the Eagles literally do nothing with the ball on their first downs, and you have a guaranteed wasted play on every one of their drives.

I hate the under as much as the next guy, but I think it’s the move again tonight. I know I just said the Eagles can’t stop the run, but that also means long, time-consuming drives. What if multiple drives like that stall out in the red zone and don’t end in seven points? I’ll tell you what that means: the over is dead. I don’t think this game has a chance of hitting 50 points, so under 49.5 seems to be in play.

Now, just like last night, we’ll have to play the system a little and add the under 50.5 to our slip so we can use the boost at FanDuel. They’ve let us do this for years, so maybe they’re alright with it, but it feels a little cheap. Still, I’m not above getting loose with the rules a little. We have to do what we have to do. Feels right.
