DraftKings today announced the launch of its prediction market services, DraftKings Predictions, in 38 states.

The new standalone app and web product will allow patrons to trade on real-world outcomes across a wide range of markets, including sports and finance. Sports event contracts are currently offered in 17 states, but not available in states where DraftKings is licensed to offer sports betting.

“DraftKings Predictions is a significant milestone and reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering products that tap into the passion of our customers,” said Corey Gottlieb, Chief Product Officer of DraftKings, in a company release. “We will create an unparalleled customer experience, leveraging key strategic relationships like ESPN and NBCUniversal to provide an authentic, real-time product that moves at the speed of sports. Along with our operational footprint, marketing and analytics infrastructure and advanced in-house technology, we believe we are uniquely positioned to lead this space over the long term.”

Where is DraftKings Predictions Available?

In late October, DraftKings acquired Railbird Technologies Inc, a federally licensed exchange designated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), to enter the predictions market.

DraftKings’ Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder Jason Robins reaffirmed the company’s decision during its 2025 Q3 results, announcing DraftKings Predictions would be launched before the start of the new year.

DraftKings Predictions is a Commodity Futures Trading Commission registered Introducing Broker and member of the National Futures Association. New categories of outcomes will be added, such as entertainment and culture, moving forward, according to the company.

DraftKings Predictions plans to connect to multiple exchanges, beginning with CME Group at launch, to give customers the widest array of markets, including global benchmarks, economic indicators, and sports contracts. This will also include the planned rollout of Railbird Technologies and its wholly owned subsidiary, Railbird Exchange, LLC, to broad available markets.

DraftKings Predictions is now live across 38 states in the U.S., with sports event contracts available in 17 states, including California, Georgia, Texas, and Florida.

Sports event contracts are available in the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • California
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Minnesota
  • New Mexico
  • Nebraska
  • North Dakota
  • Oklahoma
  • Rhode Island
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Texas
  • Utah

DraftKings is the first major sports betting operator to enter the predictions market, beating FanDuel to launch. FanDuel will likely launch its own prediction markets before the year is out.

Will States Have Say?

DraftKings entry into the prediction markets will likely bring about the attention of state gaming regulatory bodies that have warned license holders to not offer sports event contracts or partner with those who do.

Several gaming commissions, such as those in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and New York, have warned sports betting companies that offering sports event contracts – even in other states – could put their licenses at risk.

The Arizona Department of Gaming was the first to take action against a company for a prediction market partnership. The department notified Underdog of its intention to revoke its daily fantasy sports license due to its partnership with Crypto.com, which until early December offered sports event contracts in the state.

In an email obtained by Sports Betting Dime through a public records request, the Arizona Department of Gaming notified Underdog on Dec. 5 of its intention to revoke the company’s fantasy sports contest operator license. It classifies Crypto.com’s sports event contract offerings as “illegal gambling in Arizona.”

Underdog has held a fantasy sports contest operator license in the state since Aug. 23, 2021.

“ADG has determined that Underdog, by contracting with Crypto, benefitting from Crypto’s services, supporting Crypto’s interests, and providing financial support to Crypto is aiding and abetting Crypto’s illegal conduct in Arizona and providing it with a façade of legitimacy. Moreover, and in the same fashion, Underdog’s relationship with Crypto is an association that poses a threat to the public interest of this State. As a result, the Department hereby provides Underdog notice of its intent to revoke fantasy sports contest operator license FS200008,” a member of the Arizona Department of Gaming wrote in the Dec. 5 notice.
