When digging into this matchup, the starting pitching discrepancy points me directly toward the road underdogs.

Cincinnati hands the ball to Chase Burns, who has been electric this season, with an 8-1 record and a 2.01 ERA.

Burns is generating 10.60 strikeouts per nine innings with elite swing-and-miss stuff. His underlying 3.16 FIP indicates his success is sustainable. Over his last 10 appearances, Burns has dialed up his dominance further, dropping his ERA to 1.85 while striking out 11.26 batters per nine.

Meanwhile, New York deploys Elmer Rodríguez, who holds a concerning 1.85 WHIP over 13 innings.

His biggest issue is a severe lack of command, surrendering 6.23 walks per nine innings. Opponents consistently put the ball in play, evidenced by a .294 batting average. Rodríguez averages just 4.33 innings per start, which will heavily tax the bullpen early in the game.
