  • Brady Tkachuk makes his first trip back to Ottawa as a member of the Panthers on Wednesday
  • I’ve got two shots on goal props and one anytime goalscorer bet for the Oct. 21 slate
  • See my NHL player props and anytime goalscorer picks below, plus the available prices for all three bets

Wednesday’s NHL slate is short, but it doesn’t lack drama. Brady Tkachuk returns to Canadian Tire Centre for the first time since the Senators traded their former captain to Florida in June, with puck drop set for 7:30 pm ET.

Over in Buffalo, the Sabres host a Philadelphia team that has been giving up plenty of shots early this season. That’s a matchup I want a piece of on the shots board.

I’ve pulled three props from those two games, all priced at theScore Bet. Keep reading for my NHL player props and anytime goalscorer picks for Wednesday, Oct. 21.

NHL Player Props & Anytime Goalscorer Picks for Wednesday

My card leans on volume. I’ve got two Overs on shots on goal and one anytime goal bet on a Florida finisher. Here’s the board before I break down each pick.

PlayerPropOddsImplied Odds
Brady Tkachuk (FLA)Over 3.5 Shots on Goal-10551.2%
Tage Thompson (BUF)Over 3.5 Shots on Goal+11546.5%
Sam Reinhart (FLA)Anytime Goal+16038.5%

Odds as of Oct. 20 at theScore Bet.

Tkachuk’s price is basically a coin flip, while Thompson and Reinhart both pay plus money. Prices move fast on game day, so check the latest NHL player props before puck drop.

1. Brady Tkachuk Over 3.5 Shots on Goal

Pick: Brady Tkachuk Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-105 at theScore Bet)

Tkachuk has 32 shots on goal through nine games with Florida, about 3.56 per night. That puts his average just above this line, and the shots are turning into production. He has six goals and four assists so far.

Now he heads back to Ottawa. The Sens sent him to the Panthers on June 21 for three first-round picks and a second-rounder, so expect plenty of noise in the building.

I’m betting he answers it the way he always does, by throwing pucks at the net. The -105 price implies a 51.2% chance. I’ll take near even money on a player whose season average already sits above the number.

2. Tage Thompson Over 3.5 Shots on Goal

Pick: Tage Thompson Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+115 at theScore Bet)

Philadelphia has allowed 355 shots on goal through 11 games, roughly 32.3 per game. That’s a lot of rubber, and Thompson is the Sabres shooter I want attached to it.

He’s at home, and the Flyers keep letting teams set up in their own end. Buffalo’s attack runs through the big man’s shot, so the volume should find him.

Thompson needs four shots to cash this one, and the +115 price translates to about a 46.5% chance. Getting plus money on a high-volume shooter against a team surrendering more than 32 shots a night is a spot I’ll play every time.

3. Sam Reinhart Anytime Goal

Pick: Sam Reinhart Anytime Goal (+160 at theScore Bet)

I’m closing out my NHL anytime goalscorer picks with Reinhart. This is a standard anytime goal bet, so he cashes it with a goal at even strength, on the power play or shorthanded.

All eyes in Ottawa will be on Tkachuk, which could leave Reinhart with a little more room to work. His finishing gives Florida another threat around the net. If an emotional night leads to trips to the box, Florida has a path to cash in.

The +160 price carries a 38.5% implied probability. That’s a fair number to back a proven scorer in a game this heated.
