No. 25 Florida (5-3, 3-3 SEC) hosts Oklahoma (4-4, 2-3 SEC) tonight at 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. Both programs need to wash out a bad result. Florida managed just eight points in a 27-8 loss to Georgia, while Oklahoma fell 42-25 to South Carolina.

Florida is the favorite in the college football odds, and Tramell Jones Jr. is expected to start at quarterback for the Gators. John Mateer is expected to start for Oklahoma, which fired offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle on Monday and named Jason Witten interim coordinator and play-caller.

My Oklahoma vs Florida prediction favors the Gators at home, with red-zone finishing and the Sooners turnover problems shaping the SEC best bets below.

Florida’s 68¢ Yes price implies a 68% win probability, while 52¢ on Florida -5.5 treats a cover as close to a coin flip. For the total, Over 46.5 sits at 49¢, just below even, for two offenses that combine for 57.6 points per game on the season.

Oklahoma vs Florida SEC Picks

Florida’s Red-Zone Finishing Is the Difference

Florida’s 35.6 points per game come with context. The Gators averaged 53.5 points and 532.8 yards during a 4-0 start, then 17.8 points and 319.3 yards while going 1-3 over the last four games.

Florida has scored on 32 of 35 red-zone trips (91.4%) and found the end zone 26 times (74.3%). Oklahoma has scored on 15 of 20 trips but turned only seven into touchdowns (35%). That finishing gap sits at the center of our Oklahoma vs Florida prediction.

Jones relieved Aaron Philo against Georgia, going 18 of 25 for 172 yards and scoring Florida’s only touchdown on a 2-yard run. On the season, Jones is 63 of 89 (70.8%) for 579 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

With Vernell Brown III (17 catches, 271 yards, two touchdowns) dealing with a knee setback, expect a heavier dose of a rushing attack averaging 176.8 yards per game.

Oklahoma vs Florida Stats That Shape This SEC Matchup

The season numbers favor Florida on offense, but Oklahoma brings the stronger defensive profile into Gainesville.

Defensive Sacks2323

Oklahoma’s defense allows just 20.8 points and 304.6 yards per game, which is on par with some of the National Championship odds contenders. The problem is how often the offense strands it. The Sooners have 15 giveaways (eight interceptions, seven lost fumbles), and Florida’s defense has already recovered six fumbles. Both fronts have 23 sacks, but Oklahoma has allowed 20 compared to Florida’s 13.

Witten’s First Call Sheet Meets a Florida Pass Rush

Mateer has completed 162 of 247 passes (65.6%) for 1,835 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He played clean against South Carolina, going 26 of 43 for 244 yards and two touchdowns without a pick, yet Oklahoma still lost by 17.

The Sooners convert just 36.2% of third downs and run for only 106.8 yards per game. If Witten’s offense can’t stay on schedule, Mateer will face long down-and-distance against a Florida front with 23 sacks. That invites the drive-killing mistakes that tilt this SEC prediction toward the Gators.

Oklahoma vs Florida Total Pick: Over 46.5

Florida allows 28.1 points and 368.5 yards per game, so Oklahoma doesn’t need a breakout to contribute. The Sooners put up 25 against South Carolina, and a new play-caller adds wrinkles Florida hasn’t seen on film. On the other side, every Oklahoma giveaway hands the Gators a short field, where their red-zone touchdown rate does the heavy lifting.

Florida’s recent slump is why this total sits in the 40s. At 49¢, the Over asks for 47 combined points in the Swamp, and Oklahoma’s turnover habit should give the Gators the extra possessions to get there.
