The NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament will take place from November 3 to December 9, 2023, culminating with the championship game at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. With all games except the championship also counting towards teams’ 82-game regular-season record, the favorites to win the In-Season Tournament largely align with the favorites to win the NBA title.

The graph below displays the odds to win the In-Season Tournament. Further down the page, find odds to win the various groups (along with group alignment) and an explanation of the format and schedule.

The Celtics, Bucks, Nuggets, and Suns are the top-four favorites in the early In-Season Tournament odds, which perfectly aligns with the top-four favorites in the NBA championship odds. After those four, there’s some discrepancy. Cleveland is the fifth-favorite in the In-Season Tournament odds, largely because they are perceived to reside in the weakest group.

How Does the NBA In-Season Tournament Work?

The In-Season Tournament features six five-team groups split into east and west. The conferences are the same as the usual NBA Eastern and Western Conferences, but the groups are shaken-up compared to the six divisions fans are used to seeing. Each team plays the each other team in its group once during group play. All teams play two home and two away games in group play.

Only four teams from each conference advance to the knockout stage: all three groups winners plus the non-group winner with the best record (point differential will be the first tiebreaker if second-place teams from different groups are tied for best non-group winner record). The teams with the better group-play records will host the four quarterfinals and two semifinals. The championship game – which is the only In-Season Tournament game that won’t count towards teams’ regular-season records – will take place in Las Vegas.

The table below sets out the six groups for the group-play stage, along with each team’s odds to win their group.
