Jake Paul and Ben Askren will step into the boxing ring this Saturday, and the multiplicity of outcomes abound. Paul vs Askren props have been materializing as a result of that ever-growing curiosity. We look at odds and picks for the fight to go the distance, winning method, and winning group of rounds odds.

Triller Fight Club has created a fair bit of discourse surrounding this top of the marquee feature. There are a few outcomes I think are likely for Saturday, April 17th.

Odds Paul vs Askren Goes The Distance

Outcome Odds at DraftKings
No -225
Yes +162

Odds as of Apr. 15

I feel like the main reason the favored outcome here is the bout not going the distance centers on recency bias for both fighters.

Paul is coming off of a viral knockout of former NBA star Nate Robinson which has given many the perception that he has this pronounced power and finishing ability.

Conversely, Askren is known by a large amount of the combat sports fan base as the guy who got knocked out by Jorge Masvidal in record time.

This binary-based thinking has created a level of perceived parity that even extends to professional pugilists.

I’m bullish on Jake Paul’s chances to finish this one inside the distance, and Askren isn’t exactly known as this brick-fisted, knockout savant.

This cruiserweight affair is scheduled to go for eight rounds, and ultimately, I think that this prizefight encroaches to the final bell.

Pick: Yes (+162)

Winning Method Odds

Fighter TKO, KO, or DQ Odds Points Odds (after 8 Rounds) Tie Odds
Jake Paul -118 +550 +1400
Ben Askren +450 +350 +1400

The two most favored prop bets here reflect the perceptual binary that exists with this fight. One that indicates either Paul shuts out Askren’s lights in the first couple of rounds or Funky pressure cooks the Youtube star for a beatdown-based decision victory.

I’m inclined to go with the latter outcome over the former here.

Also, the open workouts provided a level of empirical evidence to validate what I was talking about in the lead-up to this fight. The idea that Askren was consciously phoning it in with prior training videos to belie what his true skillset is leading into the bout.

The former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion will go 1-0 as a boxer, and I think Askren to win after eight rounds has the best value in the winning method prop.

Pick: Ben Askren Points (after 8 Rounds) (+350)

Winning Group of Rounds Odds

Fighter Rounds 1-2 Rounds 3-4 Rounds 5-6 Rounds 7-8
Jake Paul +300 +375 +700 +1600
Ben Askren +1600 +1400 +2000 +3000

These prop bets also illustrate the aforementioned outcome binary for this contest. I foresee the story of the prizefight unfurling whereby Jake Paul comes out super hot right out of the gate and looking for that finish in the first couple of frames.

I see Ben Askren being able to weather the storm, maintain a pressure heavy game, and piece up an exhausted Jake Paul.

Seeing Ben Askren take strikes from former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in much smaller gloves, it’s a tad difficult for me to bank on Paul rocking Askren. Never mind separating Funky from consciousness outright.

Observing these Paul vs Askren Prop Bets, I favor Ben Askren winning on points after the eight rounds transpire on Saturday night. However, there is a chance Askren ends just before the bell. A small play on Askren to win between rounds 7-8 at +3000 has outstanding value.

Pick: Ben Askren Rounds 7-8 (+3000)
