The No. 18 LSU Tigers visit the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, October 24, with kickoff set for 12 p.m. ET on ABC. Both programs enter at 2-2 in SEC play, so the loser takes a serious hit in the conference race, likely knocking them out of CFP contention with a third loss.

LSU (5-2) is coming off a 31-0 shutout of Mississippi State, but it has lost both of its road games this season. Auburn (4-2) arrives with fresh momentum after a 27-24 upset of then-No. 1 Georgia.

Below, I break down my final LSU vs Auburn prediction, the current betting line and my best bets for this SEC showdown.

LSU vs Auburn Prediction

Prediction: LSU 27, Auburn 17

The Georgia win raises Auburn’s ceiling, but it also showed how much the Tigers need from Byrum Brown. The quarterback carried 26 times for 115 yards and a touchdown in Athens, helping Auburn overcome an early 14-0 deficit.

That workload is the concern this week. Brown leads Auburn in passing (1,205 yards, 8 TD, 7 INT) and rushing (459 yards, 5 TD), so LSU can crowd the box and dare him to win from the pocket.

LSU’s defense is built for that job. Game on Paper lists the Tigers at 4.35 yards allowed per play and a 39.2% opponent success rate. By adjusted EPA per play, LSU has the nation’s best defense (-0.30). Keeping Auburn behind the chains would force Brown into more obvious passing situations instead of letting him dictate the game with his legs.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt has thrown for 1,785 yards and 14 touchdowns, though his eight interceptions are the biggest risk in a hostile building. Running back Dilin Jones (566 yards, 5 TD) gives LSU a way to protect a lead and shorten the game.

The road concerns are real, but LSU is the more complete team. I expect the visiting Tigers to control the line of scrimmage and pull away in the second half.

LSU-7.5 (-105)-294Over 50.5 (-115)
Auburn+7.5 (-114)+240Under 50.5 (-105)

Odds from BetMGM on October 24, 2026.

LSU is a 7.5-point favorite in the college football odds, with a total of 50.5. LSU now has to win by eight to cover, but the spread offers a much better payout than the -294 moneyline.

LSU vs Auburn Best Bets

LSU vs Auburn Best Bet #1: LSU -7.5

  • Pick: LSU -7.5 (-105 at BetMGM)

My LSU vs Auburn spread pick starts with the visitors’ defensive disruption. LSU creates havoc on 20.5% of snaps in Game on Paper’s defensive data. Negative plays can force Auburn away from the quarterback run game that powered last week’s upset.

Auburn is 2-4 against the spread this season. The Georgia result was impressive, but I don’t expect the Tigers to repeat it against another defense capable of limiting Brown’s options. Laying the points is a better use of LSU’s edge than swallowing the heavy moneyline price.

The half-point matters, since a one-touchdown LSU win loses. My projected 10-point margin still clears -7.5, so I favor the spread at -105.

LSU vs Auburn Best Bet #2: Under 50.5

  • Pick: Under 50.5 (-105 at BetMGM)

My LSU vs Auburn total pick also depends on Brown’s workload. Auburn’s best path to staying close runs through his legs, and a quarterback-heavy ground game keeps the clock moving. Against LSU’s defense, sustained scoring drives should be difficult.

Jones gives LSU the same option with a lead. My projected 27-17 score lands 6.5 points below the total, leaving room for a late score without needing either offense to disappear completely.

The LSU vs Auburn matchup carries playoff implications. A third loss would leave LSU with little room for error, making this road trip an important test before the final month of the regular season.

While Auburn does not exactly have CFP aspirations, I will do my due diligence here as someone who lived in Georgia during Auburn’s nutty 2013 season. Auburn would need to win out, but the ink is not dry on its CFP case. However, the upcoming schedule after LSU is daunting: at Ole Miss, Arkansas, at Mississippi State, FCS Samford, and at Alabama. Buckle up.
