  • Saturday’s CFB slate offers plenty of value in the player props market
  • Recent workloads and matchups shape my read on three pass catching props
  • Read below for my Saturday college football player props and best bets for the Oct. 24 slate

Saturday’s college football card runs from a noon Big Ten showdown to a late-window Big 12 matchup in the desert. Indiana (6-1) visits Michigan (4-2) at noon ET on FOX, while Arizona (5-1) comes out of its bye to host Iowa State (3-3) at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

In between, Georgia Tech (2-4) hosts Boston College (3-3) for homecoming at Bobby Dodd Stadium. That one kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.

Each of these games features a receiver whose role has come into focus over the first half of the season. I’m targeting receptions markets, where usage tells the story. Here are my Saturday college football player props and best bets for Oct. 24.

All three of these college football player props are standard receptions over/under markets. The Brandon Phelps under carries the steepest price at -162, which implies a 61.8% break-even rate, while the Jordan Allen over at -129 requires about 56.3%. Prices like these make line shopping worthwhile, so compare numbers across the top college football betting apps before you place a bet.

Saturday College Football Best Bets for Oct. 24

CFB Player Prop Pick #1: Jordan Allen (Georgia Tech) Over 5.5 Receptions

Allen has caught 10 passes in each of Georgia Tech’s last two games, against Duke on Oct. 10 and Virginia Tech on Oct. 17. That made him the first Yellow Jacket with consecutive double-digit reception games, and he only needs six catches to cash this over.

The passing game is giving him room to work. Quarterback Alberto Mendoza threw for 335 yards against Virginia Tech last week, and Allen’s 10 catches were a big piece of that output. The streak covers two games, but at this number I’m trusting the recent workload at home against Boston College. CFB Player Prop Pick #2: Brandon Phelps (Arizona) Under 3.5 Receptions

Phelps has 12 catches for 226 yards and three touchdowns in six games, which works out to two receptions per game. His per-game catch totals of 1, 1, 3, 1, 2 and 4 put the under in five of six outings.

He did catch four passes for 88 yards against West Virginia on Oct. 10, his latest game, but that was the exception rather than the rule. At 18.8 yards per catch, Phelps does his damage in chunks, and big-play yardage does not equal high catch volume. I’m backing his season-long role as Arizona comes out of the bye against Iowa State.

CFB Player Prop Pick #3: Charlie Becker (Indiana) Over 4.5 Receptions

  • Pick: Charlie Becker Over 4.5 Receptions (-148 at theScore Bet)

Indiana’s Charlie Becker needs five catches, and he has reached that mark in four of his last five games. His latest outing produced his highest catch total of the season: nine receptions for 165 yards against Ohio State last weekend. Through seven games, he has 39 catches for 694 yards and eight touchdowns for the National Championship odds contender.

The volume case rests on how concentrated Indiana’s passing game is. Becker and Nick Marsh have combined for 1,279 receiving yards, the second-highest total among FBS duos. Together they account for 73.3% of the Hoosiers’ receiving yards.

Quarterback Josh Hoover enters this matchup with 199 consecutive passes without an interception. Becker has been one of his most productive options, and my Indiana player-prop pick is for that established receiving role to produce at least five catches at Michigan.
