Week 1 gave us a pile of blowouts, one Hail Mary that shouldn’t have happened, and not much separation between the teams at the top. Week 2 fixes that. Ohio State goes to Texas, Oklahoma goes to Michigan, and the Border Showdown returns to Lawrence on Friday night.
Worth noting before you scan the board: the first regular-season AP poll doesn’t drop until Sep. 8. Every ranking you see attached to these games is still the preseason poll, which had OSU first, Texas fifth, Oklahoma 10th, Alabama 13th, BYU 14th, Michigan 16th and Utah 21st.
The table below has the Week 2 spreads, moneylines and totals for every game on the board. It won’t be updated as numbers move, so use it to compare openers against the live college football odds later in the week.

The totals tell you where the sharp attention is. Iowa State at Iowa is the lowest number on the board at 42.5, with Oklahoma vs Michigan (44.5) and Ohio State vs Texas (47.5) right behind. The highest is Oregon at Oklahoma State, sitting at 57.5.
One line has already moved off its opener. Memphis at Boise State posted at Boise -8.5 with a 56.5 total, and FanDuel now shows -7.5 and 54.5. That’s a point on the side and two points on the total, both toward the dog and the under. Worth checking that one against the prediction market apps before you take a number.
That goes for the rest of the board too. Kalshi and Polymarket run a lower vig than the books, which usually means a better price on both sides of a game. Availability depends on where you live.
Ohio State vs Texas Odds Are a Coin Flip
- Moneyline: Ohio State -104 / Texas -115
- Spread: Ohio State +1.5 (-114) / Texas -1.5 (-106)
- Total: 47.5
This is the third meeting in 20 months, and the Buckeyes have taken both. They beat Texas 28-14 in the CFP semifinal in January 2025, then 14-7 in Columbus last August. This one is in Austin on Sep. 12, 7:30 pm ET.
Both offenses were surgical in the opener. Julian Sayin went 21-of-25 for 320 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-3 win over Ball State, with Jeremiah Smith hauling in eight balls for 151 yards and two scores. OSU’s defense allowed 165 total yards.
Arch Manning answered with 305 yards and four TDs on 20-of-27 in a 59-7 beatdown of Texas State. The Longhorns scored on eight of their first nine possessions and forced three turnovers before Manning’s day ended with the score 49-7.
So why is the total only 47.5? Because the books remember 14-7. Texas at -115 against Ohio State at -104 shakes out to roughly 51% against 49% once you strip the vig, meaning home field is the only thing separating these two in the eyes of the market. It’s also the most important game of the weekend for the national championship odds.
One thing to track before kickoff at Texas prediction markets: Longhorns freshman running back Derrek Cooper left the opener with an ankle injury.
Oklahoma vs Michigan Line Flipped Seven Points
- Moneyline: Oklahoma -210 / Michigan +172
- Spread: Oklahoma -5.5 / Michigan +5.5
- Total: 44.5
Back on Aug. 20, FOX had Michigan as a 1.5-point favorite in this game. It’s now Oklahoma -5.5. A seven-point move straight through pick’em in two weeks, all of it earned on opening Saturday.
The Sooners blanked UTEP 51-0, scored on their first eight possessions and held the Miners to 198 yards. John Mateer threw for 225 and three scores, and Isaiah Sategna III took a punt back 88 yards.
Michigan, meanwhile, beat Western Michigan 13-12 on a 47-yard Hail Mary from Bryce Underwood to JJ Buchanan after officials put a second back on the clock. Underwood finished 12-of-22 for 170 yards, and the Wolverines managed just 106 on the ground.
Oklahoma also beat Michigan 24-13 in Norman last season. Add a 44.5 total, and it’s clear the market doesn’t expect Michigan’s offense to turn this into a track meet. Worth noting that ESPN’s model still had it close to a 50/50 game.
Cy-Hawk Odds Set Up Another Grind in Iowa City
Iowa hosts Iowa State this time around, and the Hawkeyes are laying 13.5 with a 42.5 total. That’s a fat number for a rivalry that gave us a one-point finish last season.
Iowa shut out Northern Illinois 40-0 behind Kamari Moulton’s 183 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Iowa State handled Southeast Missouri 38-10 and piled up six sacks.
The question sportsbooks are really asking with a number this short is whether the Cyclones can put up enough points to hang inside two touchdowns. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm ET.
