Two unbeaten teams headline Saturday’s college football board. Miami (8-0) visits Notre Dame (7-1) in a primetime clash, while Utah (8-0) puts its perfect record on the line at home against BYU.
I am also backing a pair of SEC home teams, with Missouri catching points against Texas and Florida laying a short number against Oklahoma. Here are my college football picks today, along with the analysis behind each one.
College Football Picks Today
Odds as of Friday afternoon at BetMGM.
My CFB picks today include one total, one home underdog, one moneyline and one favorite. Prices can move on a slate this big, so compare the top college football betting apps to find the best number before kickoff.
College Football Picks Today #1: Miami vs. Notre Dame Over 54.5
- Pick: Miami vs. Notre Dame Over 54.5 (-115 at BetMGM)
My Miami vs Notre Dame Over pick starts with the quarterbacks. Miami’s Darian Mensah has completed 188 of 233 passes for 2,425 yards, 25 touchdowns and one interception. Notre Dame’s CJ Carr has thrown for 1,849 yards with 18 touchdowns and one interception.
The big variable is the Malachi Toney injury. Miami’s 1,000-yard receiver (73 catches, 1,027 yards, 13 touchdowns) was injured at practice Wednesday and had surgery Thursday. The Hurricanes’ 38-35 win over North Carolina came before the injury, so Miami still has to show it can replace that production.
That risk is real, but Mensah’s efficiency gives Miami a solid floor, and Carr’s ball security should keep Notre Dame’s drives alive. Among my college football picks today, this one rests on two quarterbacks who rarely waste possessions.
College Football Picks Today #2: Missouri +2.5
- Pick: Missouri +2.5 (-105 at BetMGM)
Missouri gets points at home, and the Tigers’ profile supports it. Mizzou averages 31.5 points and 424.6 yards per game while allowing just 325.1 yards per game. The Tigers are coming off a 34-10 win over Arkansas.
The run defense is the anchor, giving up only 98.3 rushing yards per game. Missouri is also +8 in turnover margin, with seven interceptions and six fumble recoveries against just two interceptions thrown and three fumbles lost.
If Missouri slows Texas on the ground and protects the ball, this college football pick today has a clear path to cash, with an outright win also in play.
College Football Picks Today #3: Utah Moneyline
- Pick: Utah Moneyline (-182 at BetMGM)
Utah is 8-0 and has been dominant on both sides of the ball. The Utes average 38.9 points and 485.4 yards per game while allowing just 15.9 points per game.
Utah also extends drives, converting 54.1% of its third-down attempts. That efficiency showed up again in a 49-25 win over Cincinnati.
BYU is a quality opponent, but I trust Utah’s balance at home. At -182, the Utes are the most straightforward of my college football bets today.
College Football Picks Today #4: Florida -6
- Pick: Florida -6 (-111 at BetMGM)
Florida’s 27-8 loss to Georgia was a rough outing, but the season-long numbers point to a much stronger offense. The Gators average 35.6 points and 426.0 yards per game, including 176.8 rushing yards per game.
Oklahoma is 4-4 and averages only 22.0 points and 336.9 yards per game. The Sooners manage just 106.8 rushing yards per game, which limits their ability to control the clock, and they are coming off a 42-25 loss to South Carolina.
That leaves a gap of more than 13 points per game between these offenses. Florida’s ground game is the clearest edge on my list of college football picks today, and I expect the Gators to cover at home.
