  • After six hard-fought rounds, the YouTube Boxing Championship between Logan Paul and KSI was declared a majority draw.
  • Who’s the favorite in the pre-scheduled 2019 rematch in the United States?
  • Will Jake Paul fight Chris Brown on the undercard?

YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul both left Manchester Arena dissatisfied on August 25th after their six-round white-collar boxing match was declared a majority draw. (One judge scored the fight 58-57 for KSI, while the other two scored it 57-57.)

The result meant that KSI retained his YouTube Boxing Championship belt, but the Briton was nonetheless dissatisfied.

Luckily, the pair arranged a rematch ahead of time. Set to take place in the US in early 2019 (precise date TBD), the rematch has taken on new meaning. Unless it ends in another draw, there’s no possibility of the two-fight series ending in a tie. It’s now winner-take-all!

Adding to the intrigue, Logan’s younger brother, Jake — who defeated KSI’s little brother, Deji, on the undercard — called out singer/awful human Chris Brown.

Will Jake Paul vs Chris Brown highlight the undercard for the rematch? Not likely, so let’s focus on the main event.

Logan Paul vs KSI Rematch Odds

KSI came into the first fight a heavy favorite, around -230 versus +160 for Paul. Those odds made sense as KSI was the only one with real boxing experience at the time.

This time around, it’s a much different story.

FIGHTER/RESULT MONEYLINE ODDS TO WIN AT IMPLIED PROBABILITY
KSI -120 54.5%
Logan Paul -120 54.5%

The rematch is basically a toss up. Paul has demonstrated his boxing bona fides in the ring, to some extent. He clearly won the opening rounds of fight #1 with his size and reach proving decisive.

KSI was only able to mount his comeback when Paul began to tire.

With one match under his belt and, crucially, the knowledge of just how tiring a six-round fight is, give the edge to Paul in the rematch. He will be keenly aware of one thing the next time they square off: if he had been in better condition, he would be holding the YouTube Boxing Championship this very second.

If Paul takes the second fight seriously, which all signs point to, then we are likely to see a slightly slimmer, fitter version of the 23-year-old.

While KSI won’t be taken by surprise by Paul’s size advantage next time and will know the type of fight he has to fight to win, there’s a reason why being the bigger man is called a “size advantage” and not a “size disadvantage.” There is less an opponent can do to nullify size and power.

When you add in the fact that the rematch will be in the US and how partisan crowds often impact boxing results, Paul becomes the clear value bet for the rematch.

Jake Paul vs Chris Brown

The tale of the tape is set out below, but don’t get too excited at the prospect of this fight actually happening. Once upon a time, Brown was (tentatively) set to box Soulja Boy, but Brown canceled that fight because “All the wrong people got in the way.” He didn’t actually seem that keen to get in the ring, and his response to Paul’s call-out provides little hope that we’ll get to see him pounded to a pulp.

“Chris has no clue who this Jake Paul is … He’s not even on his radar, so he has no idea why he’s name checking him. He assumes he’s doing it just to get publicity. … Chris doesn’t need, or want, any publicly stunts, so there’s zero chance he’ll be stepping in the ring with some kid he’s never heard of.” — HollywoodLife, quoting an inside source close to Chris Brown

If, by some miracle, Paul vs Brown comes to fruition, here’s how the two stack up tete-a-tete.

If the matchup actually looks like it might take place, we’ll be back with the odds.

Until then, let us know in the comments who you think would win, Jake Paul or Chris Brown?
