  • Ronda Rousey will defend her Raw Women’s Championship at WWE WrestleMania 35
  • The UFC Hall of Famer is expected to lose her title at the event
  • Are the rumors of Rousey taking time off from WWE following WrestleMania true?

Ronda Rousey has had nothing short of a remarkable run in WWE since debuting for the promotion in January 2018. Since turning heads with her outstanding performance at WrestleMania 34, she has been on an absolute tear that has seen her annihilate everyone on the roster and reign supreme as the Raw Women’s champion.

This Sunday at WrestleMania 35, all the gold will be up for grabs when she meets Becky Lynch and SmackDown Women’s champion Charlotte Flair in a “Winner Take All” Triple Threat match. As of now, Rousey is not expected to retain her title according to oddsmakers, likely due to recent rumors that she’ll be taking a leave of absence following the pay-per-view.

Although Rousey is under contract to the company through the next few years, that doesn’t mean she won’t disappear for a while after losing the title. She has been a regular on Raw for the past year, so some time away might actually do her some good.

Most fans seem to be under that same assumption as well, with odds showing that Rousey will in fact announce a break from WWE before April 16th (the week of the Superstar Shake-up).

On April Fools’ Day, Rousey had some fun with the rumors that she’ll be taking time off soon when she posted a YouTube video joking that she plans to leave WWE to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a saxophone player.

Despite her obvious attempt at humor, she never actually denied the reports in her video or on social media.

Post-WrestleMania would be as perfect of a time as any for her temporarily step away. With all signs pointing to Lynch walking out of WrestleMania with both belts, Rousey can rekindle her rivalry with The Man upon her return to the ring on the road to SummerSlam.

In her absence, Rousey’s fellow Four Horsewoman Shayna Baszler can step up to challenge Lynch and take her place as the lead heel on Raw for the foreseeable future. That could lead to the Four Horsewomen of the mixed martial arts world finally coming together to feud with Lynch, Flair, Sasha Banks, and Bayley later this year.

Regardless of what The Rowdy One has in store for fans at the Show of Shows on Sunday, look for her to bow out on the post-WrestleMania edition of Raw and resurface in time for SummerSlam season.
