This Monday, like most Mondays, is a travel day in Major League Baseball, so we have a lighter slate of props to choose from. But there is still tons of value in the MLB betting slate, it’s just up to us to find it.

Luckily, I was able to find a couple bangers, including Dean Kremer to go over 5.5 strikeouts in Philadelphia.

Prop Odds
Dean Kremer Over 5.5 Strikeouts +120
Graham Ashcraft Under 4.5 Strikeouts -140

Kremer isn’t a huge strikeout pitcher by any means, but we like him to record 6+ strikeouts on Monday. The Phillies strike out the 11th-most in the MLB against RHP, and there are plenty of reasons to back Kremer in this spot, which we’ll dive into.

MLB Player Prop #1: Dean Kremer Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Backing Kremer on Monday represents a great buy-low spot. He had gone an astounding 10 straight starts striking out 5 or more batters, before breaking that streak in his most recent start against the Dodgers. In that start he only had one strikeout in just over 4 innings pitched. He had exactly 5 strikeouts four separate times in that 10-game stretch, so he had been hovering right around this over/under up until his last start.

As mentioned above, the Phillies strike out at the 11th-highest rate in the MLB against righties at 23.5%. But, if you isolate to the past week,  that number jumps up to 27.1%, which would be the 7th-highest rate in the MLB.

Stalwarts in the Phillies lineup have been striking out a ton this past week, including Kyle Schwarber at 35.7%, Bryce Harper at 32%, JT Realmuto at 28.6%, Brandon Marsh at 27.3%, and Nick Castellanos at 27.3%. If we can get Darick Hall (50%) or Johan Rojas (40%) in the lineup, then we are really sitting pretty.

Either way, between those five starters alone, you are basically getting a guaranteed five strikeouts, which is already getting us close to cashing this. The Phillies are a better batting team at home, but they also have a higher strikeout rate at home. They swing harder, which leads to more strikeouts.

Pick: Dean Kremer Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+120)

MLB Player Prop #2: Graham Ashcraft Under 4.5 Strikeouts

Next up, let’s fade Ashcraft of the Reds. I understand that 4.5 strikeouts is not a high over/under, but Ashcraft is one of the worst strikeout pitchers in the MLB.

In the section above I mentioned the Kremer isn’t a huge strikeout pitcher. Well, his strikeout rate is 21.8%. Respectable, but not elite by any means. Ashcraft, meanwhile, is in the doldrums all the way down at a 15.8% strikeout rate. Of all pitchers in the MLB who have pitched 90+ innings, that is the sixth-worst in the MLB. Not great!

The Brewers are admittedly somewhat of a strikeout team, which is why this number is even at 4.5 to begin with. The thing is, he has pitched against the Brewers twice so far this year and has gone under both times, only managing 2 strikeouts in each start. In his last start, he went up against an even bigger strikeout team in the Giants and could only manage 3 Ks.

Overall, Ashcraft has gone over this number in only 3 of his last 15 starts, and once in his last seven. The Brewers have seen him twice this year, most recently on 7/14 so there will be no risk of a team seeing a pitcher for the first time. Ashcraft might not even get to 4 strikeouts on Monday.

Pick: Graham Ashcraft Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-140)
