MLB Player Prop #1: Reid Detmers Over 6.5 Strikeouts

As mentioned above, the Mariners love to strikeout. On the entire season as a whole, they are the second-highest strikeout team in the MLB, striking out 26.2% of the time. Against left-handed pitching, that number actually increases, albeit slightly, to 26.6% of the time. Either way, a team strikeout rate above 25% is silly.

Detmers is a good pitcher in a little bit of a slump, but the Mariners are the perfect remedy for that. There was a stretch earlier this summer where Detmers had hit this prop in five straight games, but since then he has missed in three of four. He still had good strikeout numbers, the issue was he couldn’t last long into games.

Well, another advantage in favor of Detmers is the Mariners are a below average offense against LHP, being in the bottom half in pretty much every stat you could possibly look at, including WRC+, wOBA, Slugging %, and OPS.

Pick: Reid Detmers Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-148)

MLB Player Prop #2: Kyle Tucker to Hit a Home Run

Kyle Tucker has been on fire recently. He has eight home runs since the beginning of July, which is tied for fourth-most in the MLB in that span, while also batting .350 in that stretch.

Overall, he has excellent advanced power numbers since July 1, with an ISO rate of 30%, up from a season long ISO rate of 20%. He also just hit one yard last game, and he has previously shown the ability to get hot and go on a streak.

Aside from this recent streak, there are two reasons why Tucker to hit a dong is a play. For starters, Ballpark Pal predicts the weather will be conducive for home runs to be hit. They also like Tucker’s advantage of going up against Yankees pitcher Luis Severino.

Severino is having a horrible season, if we are being honest. He has a HR/9 of 2.34, which is laughably bad. So bad that if he had pitched enough innings to qualify, it would be the worst in the MLB by a mile.

Pick: Kyle Tucker to Hit a Home Run (+340)
