  • Can Toronto win another one? Read on for the Blue Jays vs Orioles odds and prediction

The regular season is winding down and Tuesday, October 4th will be a very important game for the Toronto Blue Jays (91-69, 44-35 away) as they visit the Baltimore Orioles (82-78, 44-35 home) at Camden Yards. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM ET. The Jays’ magic number is down to one and with another victory here, they can lock down home-field advantage in the AL Wild Card.

Toronto will give Mitch White the ball here, who has started and pitched out of the pen this year. The O’s counter with Mike Baumann.

There is no clear moneyline favorite for Tuesday’s Toronto vs Baltimore matchup, but the Jays’ runline at -1.5 (+150) is intriguing. Toronto has won seven of their last nine against Baltimore, too, which is a promising sign.

Toronto vs Baltimore Probable Pitchers

White is struggling at the moment and the Jays really need him to turn it around. The righty has allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last six starts, compiling a 5.21 ERA and 1-6 record on the season.

To be honest, he’s been poor across the last two months. In both August and September combined, White owns an ERA over seven. Last time out, he was chased after 3.2 innings versus the Yankees, surrendering three runs on five hits. Also, the Orioles tagged White for five earned last month.

White vs Baumann

White
VS
Baumann
1-6 Record 1-3
5.21 ERA 4.35
95 Innings Pitched 29
74 Strikeouts 19
34 BB 8

Baumann is usually a reliever for the Orioles, but he’s been getting a few starts lately. The 27-year-old is 1-3 in 2022, posting a 4.35 ERA. He’s struck out 19 in 29 innings and walked eight.

The right-hander has tossed four innings in both of his last two outings, allowing a total of four runs. He’s very familiar with the Blue Jays, facing them twice in September, giving up three runs combined.

Blue Jays on the Verge of Top Wild Card Spot

Toronto is playing solid baseball at the best possible time, sweeping the Red Sox over the weekend and scoring a boatload of runs. Ahead of Monday’s contest, they’ve won three in a row and as previously mentioned, need just one more win to clinch home field for the Wild Card in the playoffs.

The offense couldn’t be in better shape, either. They scored 25 runs in the Boston series and also pitched very well. That’s huge ahead of the postseason, where the Jays are hoping to make some noise.

Baltimore Should Be Proud

Sure, the Orioles are going to miss out on the playoffs, but absolutely no one even thought this team would be in the mix at all, especially after trading away one of their best players, Trey Mancini, to the Astros at the deadline. With a promising young core at the forefront, Baltimore is in good hands.

Tuesday is a clear opportunity to grab a victory, too. The lineup has done well against White, but to be honest, he did a lot of the damage to himself in the last outing versus the Orioles, walking far too many batters.

Blue Jays vs Orioles Pick

Toronto’s bats are hot right now and I don’t see Baumann shutting them down. Regardless of how White pitches, the Jays will do enough to get a crucial win on Tuesday.

Pick: Blue Jays moneyline (-115)
