Bumgarner is 1-2 with a 2.81 ERA in four road starts this season and 0-1 despite a sparkling 0.82 ERA in three days games.

Jonathan Villar is 5-for-7 against Bumgarner with two doubles and a home run. Conversely, Ian Happ is 0_for-5.

Steele is 0-4 in his last six starts since beating the Milwaukee Brewers on April 9 in his season debut.

However, Steele pitched well against the Diamondbacks last Sunday in Phoenix despite not factoring in the decision. He worked six innings and gave up two runs (one earned), three hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 10.

Diamondbacks vs Cubs Betting Outlook

Villar doubled and homered for the Cubs while playing in his 1,000th career game. Rookie Christian Morel hit his first major league home run and Patrick Wisdom and Ildemaro Vargas also connected.

Arizona recalled outfielder Jake McCarthy from Triple-A Reno before the game, and he had two hits and two RBIs. Ketel Marte (hand) sat out for the third time in four games but is expected to play Saturday.

Shortstop Andrelton Simmons and right fielder Seiya Suzuki, who has +6000 NL MVP odds, are expected to play after being rested Friday.
