  • The Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays meet again this afternoon at Rogers Centre
  • Reliable starting pitching for both sides has me leaning towards the Under
  • Check out the expert picks and props to bet in the the White Sox/Blue Jays on July 19, below

The White Sox (51-45) and Blue Jays (45-52) conclude their series today, with first pitch scheduled for 12:15 PM EST on SNET and Peacock at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays eked out a 1-0 pitching duel yesterday on five hits, while the White Sox managed just four in the narrow defeat.

I am approaching this matchup looking for betting value in the MLB odds as the sub-.500 home squad tries to play spoiler. The Blue Jays rely on Vladimir Guerrero Jr and George Springer, but their offense remains inconsistent.

Below, you’ll find my expert picks and props to bet in the White Sox/Blue Jays series finale on July 19th.

When breaking down the MLB starting lineups for this American League clash, I see edges in the starting pitching profiles that point toward another tightly contested, lower-scoring affair. The White Sox bring a reliable bullpen (3.90 ERA) to back their starter, while the Blue Jays counter with relievers sitting at a 3.84 ERA. Runs will be at a premium in the late innings.

Sean Burke vs Trey Yesavage Stats

PitcherW-LERAWHIPFIPK/9OBAIP/Start
Sean Burke (White Sox)4-43.911.283.669.93.2495.38
Trey Yesavage (Blue Jays)4-43.721.164.118.28.1825.36

Toronto starter Trey Yesavage boasts a slight edge in traditional run prevention for the Blue Jays. His success is heavily fueled by limiting hard contact, frustrating opposing batters to a .182 opponent batting average. This allows him to maintain a pristine 1.16 WHIP.

However, the advanced metrics favor Chicago starter Sean Burke. The White Sox starter features superior swing-and-miss stuff, ringing up batters at a 9.93 K/9 clip. Burke’s 3.66 FIP suggests he has suffered from bad luck on balls in play, while Yesavage’s 4.11 FIP hints at looming regression.

Over his last 10 starts, Burke has been dominant. He posted a 2.83 ERA, lowered his WHIP to 1.17, and saw his strikeout rate surge to 11.62 K/9. Yesavage has encountered recent turbulence, with his ERA inflating to 4.53 over his last 10 appearances.

The White Sox have performed well as favorites, boasting a 65.0% win rate (13-7) in that role this season. Conversely, the Blue Jays hold a dismal 38.1% win rate (16-26) as an underdog. I am looking toward the visitors on the moneyline to rebound.

While traditional sportsbooks list the White Sox at -115, you can find a better payout using Kalshi, where White Sox shares trade at 51¢ for a Yes payout, translating to roughly -104 odds. Don’t fotget to claim the Kalshi referral code to score a bonus to bet on MLB.

For the totals market, I am fading the heavy public volume. The Under aligns perfectly with the strong sub-4.00 ERAs of both starting pitchers.

White Sox/Blue Jays Team Stats

Exit Velocity87.6 mph [24th]87.4 mph [23rd]
Team ERA4.09 [11th]4.17 [13th]

The most glaring discrepancy in the team stats lies in power output. Despite playing on the road, the White Sox average 1.35 long balls per game, ranking sixth among away teams. This power advantage gives the visitors a distinct edge in generating sudden, multi-run innings.

Conversely, the Blue Jays struggle to flex their muscles at home, which has caused their World Series odds to plummet. They sit in the bottom third of the league in home runs and runs per game in their own ballpark. Elite cornerstones like Guerrero Jr must elevate their output to bridge this production gap.

My favorite MLB player props to target is Miguel Vargas Over 1.5 total bases. Vargas has eclipsed 1.5 total bases in 67.0% of his last six road games. Boasting 21 home runs and a robust .490 slugging percentage per the MLB batter vs pitcher stats, he wields the necessary power to cash this plus-money prop with a single extra-base hit.
