  • The Orioles and Blue Jays play the second of a three game series on Saturday, May 20th
  • On the hill for the Jays is Alek Manoah, who has not gotten past the 5th inning in each of his last four starts
  • Check out the Orioles vs Blue Jays odds below, as well as our best bet and player prop picks

Struggling against American League East rivals, the Blue Jays (25-20, 13-7 home) look to turn the tide in game two of their three game set at home against the Orioles (29-16, 14-8 away) on Saturday, May 20th at Rogers Centre.

Toronto has dropped four of their last five including Friday night’s 6-2 loss to Baltimore. Both squads might be considered favorites in the division odds if not for playing in the ultra competitive AL East where every team is above .500 led by the MLB leading Tampa Bay Rays at 33-11.

First pitch for Saturday’s matinee affair between these two sides is scheduled for 3:07 pm ET with MASN and Sportsnet providing the broadcast coverage. Below, we dish out all the Orioles vs Blue Jays odds, plus our best bet, predictions and player prop targets you might want to think about wagering on.

Orioles vs Blue Jays Odds

Team Moneyline Runline Total
Baltimore Orioles +125 +1.5 (-155) O 9.5 (-105)
Toronto Blue Jays -145 -1.5 (+135) U 9.5 (-115)

Holding the best record in the entire American League, Baltimore still isn’t getting chalk status from online sportsbooks for this matchup. Toronto has won just one of their last nine contests against division foes, but the Blue Jays are -145 favorites to snap out of that funk and capture victory on Saturday.

Baltimore vs Toronto Probable Pitchers

Pounded in his last three outings for 16 runs and seven long balls, O’s rookie Grayson Rodriguez is in dire need of a good start or else he may not last in the rotation much longer. In the whole month of April, the 23-year-old only allowed one homer, but he just can’t seem to keep the ball in the park lately.

His 44:17 strikeout-to-walk ratio is encouraging, but the other numbers have become increasingly ugly with each successive start in May. Posting a 6.57 ERA and 1.73 WHIP, his primary statistics are amongst the worst in the entire league.

While he’s shown he can be dominant, holding Detroit scoreless in back-to-back starts last month, the youngster hasn’t yet found the consistency needed to compete at the big league level and will get a stiff test against one of the best MLB lineups against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Rodriguez vs Manoah Stats

6.57 ERA 5.40
1.73 WHIP 1.80

Can somebody explain what has happened to Alek Manoah? That is what Jays fans must be wondering. One of the preseason favorites in the Cy Young odds after finishing third in voting last season, the big man’s numbers have fallen off a cliff across the board.

With a quarter of the season completed, the cause for concern amongst the Jays brass must be ramping up at this point. One major troubling aspect for the team’s opening day starter has been his lack of control. He has already issued 32 free passes after walking just 51 batters all of last season.

He’s also averaging just seven strikeouts per nine innings, by far the lowest mark of his young career. Amongst pitcher who have thrown at least 40 innings this year, Manoah has the worst WHIP, ranking 71st, which is shocking considering he ranked in the top 10 last season.

Orioles vs Blue Jays Player Prop Picks

Oddly enough, Bo Bichette failed to reach base in the series opener. The Blue Jays shortstop has hits in 11 of his last 14 games and leads all of MLB in base hits with 61. Only twice this year has he failed to reach base two times in a row and against a struggling Rodriguez, he’s worth a bet to get over 1.5 hits on Saturday afternoon.

On the other side, expectations are sky high for Adley Rutschman this season. He also failed to record a hit on Friday night, but has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last 10, so we’re picking him to do that once again in the player props market.

Orioles vs Blue Jays Predictions

It’s been a tough go for Manoah this season, but he’s running out of time to turn it around. While his difficulties on the mound have made it hard to lay down money when he’s pitching in the MLB odds, Saturday’s affair against a scuffling rookie on the opposite side is the time to turn things around.

At 5-10 against divisional opponents this year and with less games than past campaigns to make up ground because of the change to the schedule, the heat is on the Jays to start winning starting with Baltimore on Saturday. Our prediction is that the Jays square things up with the O’s and score a victory in the MLB odds on Saturday.

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays Moneyline (-145)
