The Eastern Conference playoff seeding couldn’t have gone worse for the New York Knicks. They appeared destined to take on the Raptors, a team they had swept in five games, but ended up drawing the Atlanta Hawks, one of the hottest teams down the stretch of the regular season.

This has the potential to go the distance, and there are several key players and the accompanying NBA props worth targeting throughout this series.

For Game 1, we’re starting things off with one of the league’s best rebounding bigs in Karl-Anthony Towns, and a role player turned star for the Hawks. Read below for my favorite Hawks vs Knicks props.

Looking at the numbers, and New York’s Jalen Brunson has the highest scoring number at 27.5, one of four players with a total of better than 20 points for Game 1. Towns has the highest rebounding prop at 11.5, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker has the high line for 3-point makes, at 3.5.

New York is sitting just outside the Top 5 in the NBA Championship odds, but if Karl-Anthony Towns can reach is talent apex (finally), the Knicks’ chances get astronomically better. That’s how valuable — and how thin — New York’s top-heavy roster needs him to be a star.

He did do great work on the glass this year, finishing second in the NBA in rebounding at 11.9 per contest, including 3.1 offensive boards per game, the second-best figure of his career.

Towns faced the Hawks twice in their three-game series this season, and he was a key in both wins, grabbing 15 boards on December 27 in a 128-125 win, while pulling down a dozen in a 108-105 win on April 6.

He’s cleaned glass big time against Atlanta since joining New York, grabbing double-digit boards in six of seven games, going over the 11.5 line set for Saturday four times.

KAT is also entering the playoffs hot, pulling down 10+ boards in 10 of his last 12 games, hitting that over seven times.

For Atlanta, there’s been plenty of surprises, but none better than the free agent signing of Nickeil Alexander-Walker. After a complimentary role in Minnesota, the Hawks unearthed a legit star guard.

His 20.8 scoring average ranked Top 30 in the league, obliterating his previous career high of 12.8 points, adding 3.4 boards and 3.7 assists while shooting 39.9% from 3-point range.

Alexander-Walker has also roughed up the Knicks in three meetings this season, averaging 28 points, while shooting 50.9% from the field and 45.5% from 3-point range. He’s crushed his 20.5 scoring line in every contest.

With a few deep playoff runs in his back pocket, Alexander-Walker should be a major factor and source of calm for a Hawks side that doesn’t have a ton of big game experience.
