The New York Knicks continue their three-game road trip in South Beach on Wednesday as they face Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat at FTX Arena. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm ET.

New York has lost four of their last five and was beaten by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday by a score of 95-93. Miami meanwhile, took down the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday at home.

This is the first meeting between these Eastern Conference rivals this year, but the Heat won three in a row against the Knicks last season. The NBA betting trends show the public are heavily backing Miami as well.

If you haven’t yet, why not try out New York sports betting? It’s just recently launched in the state.

Knicks Lack Consistency

It’s no secret the Knicks are struggling immensely this season after such a promising campaign a year ago. Their defense is poor while Julius Randle has failed to step up and be the star we saw last season. Aside from those two factors, this team is just so inconsistent.

While they have been losing quite a bit lately, Tom Thibodeau’s squad did put together a fine performance on Sunday against the Clippers, winning 110-102.

RJ Barrett and Randle combined for 52 points, but the Knicks then came out flat on Monday in a loss to Cleveland. NY shot a dismal 42% from the field and just 52% from the free-throw line.

However, Thibodeau’s group did show a bit of guts in the fourth quarter, coming back from a 15-point deficit. They had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but Randle’s deep triple fell short.

These next two games will be a very good test for the Knicks amid their cold streak. After the Heat matchup, New York will visit the defending champion, Milwaukee Bucks.

If they can manage to pull out just one victory here against a pair of legitimate contenders, it should do a lot for their confidence.

Miami Recent Results

The Heat are playing extremely well lately and just overtook first place in the East, now sitting at 30-17 on the season. Despite climning to first, they’re still third in the odds to win the Eastern Conference.

Erik Spoelstra’s team has actually been without Kyle Lowry for four straight games due to a personal matter and he’s expected to be out once again on Wednesday. However, it hasn’t hurt Miami, winning three times in his absence.

Sunday’s showing against LA was impressive, with Jimmy Butler leading the charge with  20 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. In the process, he surpassed LeBron James for the most triple-doubles in franchise history.

Duncan Robinson was also in his bag, erupting for 25 on 6-for-11 shooting from three-point land. The Heat shot 46% from long range and 49% overall, but they took their foot off the gas pedal in the fourth.

Miami had a 23-point lead with 8:38 left in the final period, but the Lakers went on a 32-13 run and made it extremely close, with LA cutting the deficit to just four points in the final seconds.

Nevertheless, the Heat managed to hold on, improving their home record to 16-5. Spoelstra’s squad will be getting a big boost for this game against the Knicks as well, with Tyler Herro returning from COVID-19 after being sidelined for three contests.

Knicks vs Heat Prediction

To be honest, I don’t really have much belief in the Knicks here. They’re in a rut, while Miami is clicking on all cylinders — and a current top-6 team in the 2022 NBA Championship odds.

With Herro returning as well, the Heat will cover and stay at the top of the East for the time being.
