It’s the battle of two Eastern Conference heavyweights on Wednesday night as the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls go head to head for the second time this season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 10pm ET at the United Center. Chicago managed to come out victorious in their first meeting of the campaign, winning 111-107 behind a 31-piece from Zach LaVine.

The Nets will be looking to respond here after a disappointing loss to the Damian Lillard-less Portland Trail Blazers Monday night. As for the Bulls, they beat the Detroit Pistons in the first game of a back-to-back on Tuesday evening.

Nets Struggling Lately

Brooklyn is still sitting at 25-14 on the season, but they’ve certainly been playing a lot worse lately. Steve Nash’s squad has a 4-6 record in their last 10 games and to be frank, the Blazers had no right beating them.

Remember, Portland is without their three best players right now in Dame, CJ McCollum, and Norman Powell.

The Nets played without James Harden, who is nursing a minor knee injury. In fact, he’s listed as questionable for Wednesday’s contest. Kyrie Irving was solid once again in his second game, dropping 22 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out four assists.

Kevin Durant also showed out, as usual, erupting for 28. The contributions from Cam Thomas were a breath of fresh air as well (21 points) but aside from the trio, it was a poor showing from the rest of the rotation.

The first unit, outside of Durant and Kyrie, combined for a mere 11 points. Patty Mills was non-existent off the bench too, finishing in single digits. Brooklyn went into the half with a convincing lead but they looked worn down in the final two periods, with the Blazers coming out and outscoring them 32-19 in the third quarter.

With a day of rest under their belt after a back-to-back and hopefully Harden back in the mix in Chicago, the Nets will be looking to do some damage. Brooklyn plays very well on the road as well, going 14-4 as opposed to 11-10 at home.

Bulls Continue to Put The League on Notice

Chicago is almost back at full strength after a brutal spell of COVID-19 ripped through their roster. Alex Caruso is the only notable player currently sidelined due to the virus but he could even be back as soon as Wednesday.

The Bulls just won nine in a row before Luka Doncic and the Mavs beat them on Sunday, but they roared back with a vengeance on Tuesday against Detroit, winning by a mind-boggling 46 points.

Literally, the entire squad got in on the action, with eight players finishing with at least 10 points. Nikola Vucevic led the way with a team-high 22, while DeMar DeRozan poured in 20 points and dished out seven dimes.

Chicago was absolutely lights out in this contest, dominating the lowly Pistons in every category imaginable. They shot 53% from downtown and 54% from the field while outrebounding Detroit 61-41. Needless to say, the Bulls will be coming into this Nets matchup with boatloads of confidence. Donovan’s group also thrives on home court, posting a 14-4 record.

Nets vs Bulls Prediction

Chicago is looking far too dangerous right now while the Nets aren’t. Although both teams possess good records home and away, I have to take the Bulls here on the moneyline after they destroyed the Pistons. The hot streak will continue.

Pick: Bulls ML (-116)
